played bad the first 3 quarters, but came back in this one to take it to OT...103-103, but pierce and ricky davis have been pretty much unstoppable. 11/5/2005 10:21:41 PM |

I actually enjoy watching these guys play. They're entertaining and energetic. I just get tired of seeing them blow big leads. It was good to see that they can come back from a deficit tonight. 11/5/2005 11:39:37 PM |

i hope this builds some momentum for hometown support, the crowd seemed really into the game to me, not just at the end...btw what was all the raving about the scoreboard about? was it just really big or was it the fact they had the skyline modeled on the top of it? i couldnt tell what was so jawdropping from the tv 11/6/2005 12:04:20 AM |
tracer All American 13876 Posts user info edit post |
well the skyline on top has the screen behind it that they can animate...big whoop i guess, but its only one of two in the league with the feature. the biggest thing is that the sides of the scoreboard can go full screen. most scoreboards have 3 sections of graphics: 1 strip on each side for stats, and the middle for video. this screen does it all with one screen so it can go fullscreen. that i think is the big deal, but i might be missin somethin. its pretty impressive in person.
i wish i coulda been at the game tonight, from what i've read, it really was electric. okafor said he wasnt expecting so much energy at all. guess they got used to the lack of support at charlotte coliseum. i just hope charlotte can keep it up and its not a one time thing for this season. 11/6/2005 2:30:34 AM |

bttt....wallace is out for a week, and since he's the only consistent thing on the team, doesnt look promising for a week we play dallas, miami, and indiana twice. we do have orlando in there which is winnable with out gdubya. 11/10/2005 1:41:11 PM |

felton was pg so it was uptempo, and kareem rush decided he'd shoot well for a change. that in turn opened it up for okafor a bit. rush's line is sick. 35 points, 12-15 fgs, 6-7 3pts 11/16/2005 11:41:29 PM |

This team could have been pretty good THIS year if they hadn't wasted a pick on Sean May, who will do nothing but backup Okafor. They should have took a proven small forward like Hakim Warrick or used it on a high schooler like Gerald Green. 11/17/2005 1:05:13 AM |
DaveOT All American 11945 Posts user info edit post |
I still think Green or another high school kid would've been a mistake at this point, because the Bobcats need players who can contribute immediately.
And yes, I still think May was an awful choice for the 13th pick. Felton was the best guard left at the 5th, they needed a guard, good choice. May, though...that's really just to sell tickets. Now considering that ticket prices are up this year due to the new arena, maybe it wasn't such a bad decision business-wise, but it's going to hurt them this year in terms of wins. 11/17/2005 1:08:05 AM |
tracer All American 13876 Posts user info edit post |
well, i think they had greater needs, but may has done pretty well so far. he's a little too quick to pull the trigger on the jump shot, but he's playin a lot better than primo in my opinion, and with ely out right now, he's come up huge.
if they decide to put mek at C and may at PF, i think that would be a pretty effective lineup. not as much size as with primo at center, but the guy is too soft, so its pointless having a 7 footer in there if he's going to play like a PG on the boards

what's so proven about hakim warrick? yeah, he owned college power forwards, but he's got no range, and isn't big enough to bang down low consistently. you want your small forward to extend the defense11/17/2005 10:26:20 AM |

in the three games that May has filled in for injured melvin ely he has averaged 16.0pts and 8.0 rebounds in 22 minutes of play.
not bad if you ask me. sounds like he's making the most of his playing time and doing a good job11/17/2005 2:17:57 PM |

All of these are true, but can they play Okafor and May at the same time is the question. If they can, the team will be small but talented. 11/17/2005 2:26:59 PM |
tracer All American 13876 Posts user info edit post |
i think they can. they will be small a smaller frontcourt than average, but they will both be good rebounders with good post moves, which is better than average. 11/17/2005 2:45:00 PM |

when they have all their players, they really look pretty decent. unfortunately "the plan" is for them to suck so they can get a good draft spot, so i think they might be overshooting where they really want to be. i wonder how their plan will change if they can keep playing "well" 11/24/2005 1:59:06 AM |

it was great effort to stay in the game despite poor shooting, and then to actually take the lead when they were really outplayed for over 3 quarters of the game. but the last play on both the offensive and defensive end was some of the worst execution i've ever seen, particularly that defensive one. pierce basically jogged to the rim and laid it in 11/26/2005 2:44:45 AM |

okafor starts at 4, may is pretty much always a back up at 4, but sometimes okafor will go 5 with may in at 4. may was seein a lot of minutes in relief with ely out, but now with ely back, his minutes have gone back down. i think he played like 15 tonight. 11/26/2005 2:47:38 AM |

Injuries really killed us this year, but I thought this was pretty damn funny.
THE ADAM MORRISON SWEEPSTAKES
30. Charlotte 29. New York
The Bobcats have 13 wins and the Knicks have 14 wins. According to hoopshype.com, Charlotte's 2005-06 payroll is $33.4 million, while New York's payroll is $125.9 million. Not including team options on younger players, Charlotte has $21.8 million in guaranteed salaries committed for 2007; $14.2 million committed in 2008; and $0.0 million in 2009. New York's guaranteed money looks like this: $110.3 million (2007); $49 million (2008); and $45 million (2009). Also, the Bobcats kept all their first-round picks through the decade, while New York gives Chicago its 2006 lottery pick and switches first-rounders with the Bulls in 2007 (with the Knicks getting the lower pick).
To recap: For that one extra win, the Knicks spent four times as much money, killed their cap flexibility through 2009 and gave away any chance of having a top-five pick in the next two years. On the bright side, Eddy Curry has gained enough weight this season that he might start wearing jackets to cover his rear end during games, kinda like how Oprah dresses when she's in the middle of one of her eating binges. So that will be fun.
(God bless the Isiah Era. We'll be talking about this for decades. I really believe that.) 2/8/2006 4:26:06 PM |

3 in a row motherfuckers
Friday night: Win 1: Bobcats beat Lakers by 10, "hold" Bryant to "only" 30 something points
Monday night: Win 2: Bobcats beat Sonics 119 to 112, Ray Allen can't keep his team in the game
Tonight (Wednesday night): Win 3: Bobcats beat Sixers 100-92, hold Allen Iverson to only 20 points, Melvin Ely scores on Chris Webber at will

soooo it seems they just traded bogans to houston for lonny baxter. a straight up trade for basically 3 inches. they coulda gotten baxter in the expansion draft, but didnt, and now they get him for one of our better perimeter defenders and a decent scorer. baxter has had one good game in his career.....against the bobcats earlier this season. i cant make any sense of this trade. at all. 2/9/2006 12:44:30 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148446 Posts user info edit post |
well i didnt think Bogans was really a part of the Bobcats' future anyway...but I doubt this trade would've happened if Okafor and/or May were still healthy...hell, hopefully LB will do decent 2/9/2006 12:47:36 PM |
tracer All American 13876 Posts user info edit post |
yea, i mean its not like i think bogans was going to be a star. but we're starting to get big man depth back now. and we just lost felton for who knows how long, and brevin is playin banged up already it seems. we only have burleson at pg if knight goes down. maybe bogan's return was really far off, so we might as well get a playable body instead of a nonplayable. thats the only way it really makes sense. 2/9/2006 12:53:04 PM |

Bogans is worthless long term.
Id rather have Baxter...
I think they realize we are about 2 years behind where we should be in terms of talent and they are trying to assure us a high draft pick this season.
Imagine if we had Dwight Howard and Chris Paul right now Hell even Danny Granger.
I still cant believe they passed up Granger for fat fuck May. 2/9/2006 3:24:19 PM |

thats exactly why he's good trade bait. next season may and okafor will be healthy along with primoz. trading knight and ely is probably the smartest move bickerstaff could make. draft wisely next season, and maybe spend some money on a good shooting guard, and this team has potential. 2/9/2006 5:36:03 PM |

Yeah but to be honest, having the #1 pick this year will not mean much. Rudy Gay may come out and if he does, he should be the top pick. I don't see a whole lot of talent in this year's draft as of now. 2/9/2006 5:45:16 PM |
