The magnitude of the mistake is the difference...

If the D-line or linebackers make a mistake, you give up some yards. If the safety fucks up, you're giving up a TD.

^^ Just saw that... I was about to post the same thing.

^ Haha, yeah, noticed that too I'm really happy for him, he seems really upbeat and there's no doubt the kid is a tremendous athlete. I really think he'll succeed and be a great safety... he's got the speed and playmaking ability. I personally think safety would be a much more fun position to play. (I've always said if I could play any position in football, it would be safety. Your job literally is to knock mofo's out coming across the middle. Brilliant!)

He just couldn't hold onto the ball... he won't have to do that as a safety.

He got out there some today and almost made an interception when they were looking to score in the 4th. I think he might work out after all.

Damn, has some serious flip-flopping issues going on. Just two weeks ago he was emphatic about not wanting to leave and liking his new role. Gotta wonder whats up with this transfer (possibility of an academics issue, altercation, or something?) Hope everything works out for him, I know its been a tough road for him so far.

he can go to a less competitive school and probably rack up some yards. better than being a safety, i suppose.

or this can be just a huge mistake

Something fishy is going on.

Why else would he not at least go to the bowl game?

I think the grade speculation is correct....this is really wierd otherwise.

got to suck for him, miami says fuck off and then we basically say the same thing by movin him to a new position, i guess its hard to win a job over Andre and Toney, best of luck wherever he goes, not that i think he will get any.

The kid is talented.

He was supposedly the best RB we had in practice, he just couldn't hold onto the ball. He'll make some team super-happy. We just have one of the best, youngest backfields in the nation.

In high school, you can run around kids, east and west, not so in college. He played in one of the toughest high school "sectors" in Miami, but the boys doin' the tacklin' ain't the men he would face in the ACC. Now throw fumbling into the mix and you've got a recipe for the bench. I really hope he breaks it open at RB somewhere, but I think he would be best served at WR or CB.

he asked to be moved

thx...thats why there's something fishy going on. You dont ask to be moved then transfer after being given PT a week after changing to a totally different position.

I think he would rather play than sit out for a year or whatever he's doing.

He was basically guaranteed PT back there for next season.

^ Nope. He was 4th on the depth chart...and the starting two were a year younger than him. His academics weren't good, but they weren't the reason for this

It wasn't the talent that stopped him. It was the fumbles and lack of patience.

He was heralded as "The best UM running back recruit since Edgerrin James". That's saying a helluva lot.... considering Portis, McGahee, Moss, etc, etc, etc, etc all could have something to say about that.

He simply didn't tuck the ball away or learn to follow blocks like he should have. That's something that will take time.

It doesn't matter if you run 80 yards on a play if you can't hold onto the ball at the end (See: TA McLendon)

I just dont understand how transfering is going to help that. I mean sure he can at least play somewhere else, but even then, he has to sit out a year if he wants to go to a decent school. I really just think something wierd is going on, whether its school related or not.

It's not, but you realize this kid was a messiah coming out of H.S?

He'd be the #1 back at 80% of Div 1 schools... fumbles or no fumbles. TA was for us when we were thin at the RB position, and all he did was fumble.

He's not playing here because if he puts the ball on the turf in practice (Which he did... often)... we had other talented backs to take his place. It happened with Baker too, and Andre Brown took his job. Had those two been around with T.A.... TA would have taken a seat on the bench.

What it boils down to is that he was behind 2 freshmen and a sophmore on the depth chart. He wasn't going to see the field much, and with an ego, he thought he "deserved" it based on his H.S. credentials.

I'm not saying I know everything about it, there could have been other issues, but I doubt it. The kid felt he was a superstar and he wasnt at this point.

fuck

I forgot about the ego aspect. WTF though. Toney Baker and Andre Brown both had enough balls to come here when Blackman, BW, and RD were all in front of them...and Andre signed even though we got Toney. Now either they swallowed their pride enough to come to the school they liked, or they are so cocky they knew they would beat the competition...which they did.

haha probably choice B, but i'm just playing devil's advocate. Kinda fucked up to have an ego so big you cant swallow your pride and stay here, but shit happens.

dont get me wrong though...If he doesnt want to be here then I dont want him here. I just dont know if this is the best decision for him.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I first listened to that interview back a month or so ago I lost a bunch of respect for him. I used to think he was a mad crazy athlete that was a good ball player and just had a little trouble hanging on to the ball. And that isn't that big of a deal, its the reason a lot of people get moved to other positions. But those people still play. In that interview he came off as pure thug. And his only accomplishments to back up that attitude were from HS, which don't mean shit now.

Yeah, he's apparently the complete opposite of Reggie Davis.

I feel so bad for Reggie. He was the #10 RB in the nation out of H.S. We decided to burn his redshirt like the 7th game of the season his frosh year, and he rarely ever sees the field at all anyways.... yet you don't hear a peep out of him.

He better get the "team before self" award his senior year.

We are really going to miss his 40 yards rushing and 1 tackle. You can't find guys like that just anywhere.

I wish him the best but this actually helps by freeing up a scholly for someone who might contribute.

Yeah, because the ONLY way someone can contribute is during a game.

A kid that can run like that is perfect for giving your defense practice, whether he only got 40 yards during the actual season or not.
