I agree...getting back to the topic at hand:
I watched all of the game last night and have already been to one Wake exhibition game, and they just don't look like a ranked team.
Until they can solve the PG problem AND get someone else to step up to score besides Gray and Williams, they'll simply be a middle of the pack ACC team. If they can solve one or both of those problems, they'll be ranked and tourney bound with a good seed.
Of they top five teams in the ACC( Duke, BC, State, Maryland, Wake), they seem to be playing the worst right now. 11/18/2005 11:28:48 AM |

^^good point
and also, like i have said a couple of other times in this thread, Prosser's teams don't usually improve all that much during the course of a season b/c they do not play defense
they do not have the scorers this year just to try and outscore everybody; if they are forced to keep Gray at the point all year they will struggle

No idea on UMD, I haven't kept up with them at all yet this season.
I just can't stand Williams enough to watch them... 11/18/2005 11:50:00 AM |

Maryland's options at PG are DJ Strawberry, Sterling Ledbetter, and Parrish Brown.
I personally thought that DJ would come in this year and provide them with a good option at the point (his freshmen year he played a little in place of Gilchrist and did pretty well)...however, reports are that he hasn't fared too well in their first few contests. He will give them some great defense and the occasional spark on offense.
Ledbetter sucked last year. I've heard that he's improved a little this year, but I personally don't think he's a good enough point guard for a team that wants to be in the top group of the ACC. I think Maryland's success hinges on Ledbetter being a solid guard.
Parrish Brown has been getting about 7 minutes a game. So don't look for him to do anything signficant.
I'll also add that Chris McCray will add some point guard duties (him and DJ are the starting guards with Ledbetter coming in as the first sub at point). Like Gray at Wake, him being the primary ball-handler takes away from his scoring. However, unlike Wake, Maryland at least has good options when he's running the point...like Mike Jones and DJ

Yeah, I have to admit the TTech game shocked me.
For a Bob Knight team, they played pretty shitty defense. 11/18/2005 12:28:37 PM |

Wake might beat Texas Tech...but it wont be handily. They don't have enough offensive firepower to was teams. 11/18/2005 12:34:58 PM |
