not that I need to defend myself to ignorant fools like Excoriator and Mathfreak, but I had to track that Kudu for 6 hours and about 10 miles of mountains, so kiss my ass.. mmkay?

and all you snot-nosed liberals need to be happy us "red-neck" hunters are killin deer or your nice BMW's would be gettin destroyed due to overpopulation.

Deer also destroy a lot of property, and if they don't like what they eat, they just throw it right back up where they are. Kind of hard to clean it up once it solidifies in bushes.

Nah not backing down I just got off of the computer. And no, it is not because of some testosterone induced craze that I would like to bring a gut pile to an anti's house. I just figure if you anti hunters (not all of you) can do incredibly stupid left feild shit like run into the woods and yell and make noise to purposely ruin a hunt. Participate in some of the ignorant shit that peta does, why not join and do some crazy shit myself!

I hunt for meat, and meat only. Don't hang any "trophies" on the wall, and don't understand those that do. I'd rather get a nice doe than a buck. But I'm not gonna knock people who do.

i take comfort in the fact that that those who stand opposed to hunting probably would've died sooner from lack of foraging/hunting skills in times past (good population control). i'd just love to see the mental gears grinding as some anti-hunter type stared down the barrel of their rifle at dinner that they are so morally opposed to harvesting.

the ability to pull the trigger is an american value that seems to be irrelevant to the most uber-sensitive of our modern population, but that's OK, 'cause obviously deer are not overpopulated, and their numbers don't need to be managed.

"The Cape buffalo is not the most dangerous big game." He sipped his wine. "Here in my preserve on this island," he said in the same slow tone, "I hunt more dangerous game."

I took this one in Caswell County-that's the deer capital of the state: meaning it has more deer per square mile of any county. And yes, there is a need for population control out there. There are lots of albino's as well! We were on our way to the stand when I spotted him about 10 yards away. He was trailing a hot doe so he didn't know we were even in the area! It was perfect conditions too-wind in our face and to his back.

I took him to a guy who let me watch him cape it, gonne be done by February and only gonna cost $150! And he's been doing it for a long time, so I trust his work. I got the semi upright to the left if you wanna know!

ACE83 Nice buck! Great spread! Yours are wider than mine, but I got more points. He'd be a nice mount!

^^^^hahaha, agreed!

^^I've read that book!

I am hooked on hunting now! That was the best adrenaline rush ever!
And what's this bullshit about arming the deer?? They have horns and don't think for a second that they haven't or wouldn't use them on a person. You try walking up on one that isn't totally dead and cough or make a noise-and you better hope you have the safety off and the barrel in his face! And what good would it do to give a deer a gun? Do they know how to use it? They're hooves couldn't pull the trigger and he couldn't pick it up to point it at you...

And they do destroy a LOT of property, can't wait to go on the end season drives! SAVE THE SOYBEAN FARMS!!

The one out front of my house was devasted not only by insects but groundhogs - a good section of it is barren. Kind of easy to figure out where THEY live, lol.

Although theoretically he has everything he needs to take out a decent shot. I mean, he can aim by swooping down and lowering the barrel, and he can definately reach the trigger guard with one foot. Never thought of it that way, but it could DEFINATELY WORK!

if it got infested in the first place

Not bad for 2 and a half!!! Mine had a 15" inside spread and we think that he is probably 3 and half. I was gonna go tomorrow morning but the warm weather is kinda making me think twice.

Yea they slaughtered hundreds of them on Bald Head Island few years back. Homeowners did not want a controlled bowhunt so the police shot them over corn at night. Somehow this was ok. Makes me sick. Just buried them in mass graves. The meat didn't even go to good use. But the anti-hunters won.

but i just dont get it. i can kinda see it for food reasons, but its not like you need to go hunting to eat

\

being a person who's into food being as local and "Fresh" and organic and unspoiled by industrialization as possible, if you eat meat, you can't get much more "organic" than one that was shot in the wild. No antibiotics, no torture of hanging out in a little pen where it can't turn around, etc.

you don't NEED to hunt for food now, no, but the animals you get meat from in the store are treated, typically, far worse than the animals you shoot cleanly and take home.

the whole "chase it down and hunt it fairly" argument is bunk as hell. I hate it when animal rights people (of whom I am one, pretty much) say that kind of crap. it doesn't hold up under any sort of scrutiny.

hunting for sport - purely awful, in my opinion

if there wasn't hunting for sport cops would be shooting deer
humans aren't the only animal that hunts for sport, and even if you eat it is usually still hunting for sport

hunting is necessary as population control

i'm not sure how leaving a gut pile on someone's doorstep figures into that equation.

but i guess that just gets to the root of why most hunters are actually out there (population control excuses bedamned)

in places like the eastern shore of Maryland where I'm from, if left unchecked the deer population would spiral out of control. Deer would starve to death in the cold, and would face disease and other issues revolving around overpopulation.

Also Canada Geese, if left unhunted completely ruin farming fields with their wastes. When a flock rolls in, it completely tramples the ground, killing any winter wheat growing there.

Lets be sure that you anti-hunter people realize that Deer are oversized Rats effectively.

hunting itself is a sport, but the food you get from it is just an added bonus.

unless you're real poor and are hunting for survival, but then you probably wouldnt own a gun

george i would have guessed you'd be anti-hunting
