I don't think it would have been hard to guage at all. The Axis would have taken over all of Europe, Africa, and Asia, then gone after us. Whether or not we could have kept them out of our own borders I can't say, but as long as we had time (and I suspect we would have) to develop the Bomb, it seems likely given the state of our respective programs that we would have beaten the enemy to it and then whaled on them with that as needed.
Of course, it's not like there was a chance of that happening. Worst case scenario would be that both sides recognized the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, in which case England probably would have fallen, but only at incredible costs. Beyond that, hard to say.12/4/2005 11:19:12 PM |
