The only way you can get a chargeback from paypal is if you shipped to an "unconfirmed" adress or did not keep tracking information. If you can prove that the item you sent was delivered to the purchasers confirmed adress they will side with you and there will be no chargeback.
It is the same thing as how many online retailers will only ship to the billing adress of your credit card.
I beleive in covering your ass as a seller but at the same time you have to realize that not accepting credit cards is going to cost you business. I wont buy anything from someone who does not take credit cards because there is no recourse if they never ship.

^^ Im sure its cost me a little in terms of bids but I only started refusing credit cards recently. My feedback is high enough that I still get what I think I should be getting.
Ive actually heard stories of sellers getting a charge back even with shipping to a confirmed address and having shipping verification. If the credit card used was stolen then you are just fucked and I dont think it matters if you sent the item to a confirmed address. 12/14/2005 4:15:09 PM |

There might be some truth to that. I think even traditionally the store gets the chargeback if the purchase was fraudulent. I have only bought one thing with a money order and it was a ring my girlfriend at the time wanted and they place only took money orders (they had flawless feedback, 500+). What they did was take bidpay if you wanted to use your credit card. That way they got a money order and you "bought" the money order from bidpay with your card making it impossible for the purchase to get reversed to them.
