how? I'm not a fan of narcing on someone who's not affecting you, but wreckless drivers are an immediate threat to my physical and psychological safety. Not to mention the fact that I don't want to go through days of negotiating insurance and automotive repair if they hit my car.
You said you'd pay for the damage - are you gonna reimburse me for the time I spend managing insurance shit? I doubt you could afford it.
Conclusion: stop driving like a moron. and stop whining when morons die.

how are you bike riders complain about other ppl's driving habits when you yourself break the law splitting traffic?
its true that ppl need to be aware of bikes and of course follow the rules and be aware, but when bikers run around being dicks and breaking the law that really demeans their cause.

Igor, maybe you need to go back and reread the situation. It wasn't a guy cutting through dead locked traffic at 20 or 25 mph or a guy stunting in relatively open traffic. It was a guy cutting lanes doing 75 while traffic was going 35 and riding like a general asshat. I ride hard, I don't have a problem with that, as long as its the right time and right place, which is not the 401 and US-1 merger on a busy Sunday afternoon. And yeah, just keep waiting around for that smokey burnout in the GSX. 12/6/2005 11:29:06 AM |

nah quite the opposite, im trying to point out that riding between stopped cars is safer than using trojan condoms comparing to what some of these kids are doing
^^well if it'd be me in your position, i would have caught up with him the place where he stopped to eat and told him he was being an asshat if that was my opinion. calling cops on fellow motorycle riders (and even car enthusiasts should we say) is uncalled for unless they caused you any harm directly or seriously harmed someone else.

I understand that some people are more wreckless - however, more extreme behavior does not subtract from the inherent danger you pose to yourself and to others by splitting traffic 12/6/2005 11:43:28 AM |

Honestly, he wasn't looking out for anyone else, I'm not gonna look out for him either. The police are better equiped to deal with it anyways. If I had said something, he would have probably said "F*ck you" and we wouldn't have been any farther along than we were in the first place. I've done stupid shit on the road and dealt with the police and honestly, that was the only thing that changed my driving habits. Having anyone else yacking at me didn't do anything. I also don't like the implication that simply because he paid money for a bike that I am automatically entitled to look out for him. I also am not going to sit around and wait for him to hurt someone. I'm sure everyone here knows someone who thinks they can ride or drive like a pro and they really suck. He obviously had the confidence to be pulling that shit but that doesn't mean that he has the skill to keep it under control when one little thing changes and he has to adjust. The point is that I didn't notify the cops because it was illegal but because what he was doing was well beyond reckless and dangerous and he didn't give two shits. He wasn't going to get a kidney transplant or to save a baby from a 50 story building fire, he was going to get lunch.

i know that if another sportbiker called me out for doing something dumb, i'd take that FAR, FAR more seriously than a cop doing the same...because cops don't necessarily know shit about riding a motorcycle (especially a sportbike), and they aren't paid to use common sense and judgement. they enforce laws, often to the letter, and in the face of sensibility.
Quote : | " I ride hard, I don't have a problem with that, as long as its the right time and right place" |
exactly
and doing it in the wrong place/time is definitely not good at all.
and there is a limit as to how hard you should push on the street, even under good conditions (although that limit can relatively high sometimes)
and goddammit, it's reckless, not wreckless. i don't know what annoys me more..."wreckless" or "putting on breaks".12/6/2005 12:42:51 PM |

I was in my car, not on the bike. I don't want to get into stereotypes, but I honestly think just by his demeanor that he would give two shits about what I had to say, probably same with the cops, but they can do more than talk where as I can't. I also disagree about cops enforcing the law down to the letter. I've seen parties of over 60 underage drunks be broken up without a single person getting a drinking ticket. I know it can go both ways, I've been pulled for tailgating when I was trying to get out of the way of a semi wrecker that was about to run me into the ditch. Whatever this guy got, he deserved. Hell, the cops may have never even came. 12/6/2005 12:55:51 PM |

btw, people in cars have bad habits first, not motorcyclists. Since riding my cbr600, I've becomed a much better car driver. More alert and safer. I don't speed in a cage and follow all the rules, but when I'm on the bike. Some rules really don't seem to apply to a bike as a car would. Specially at lighted intersections when your waiting for a turn light. They are the most annoying things when riding, cause I don't want to run a red light, yet I don't want to wait 20 mins when no cars are on the road. I'll end up going through stop lights and sure its illegal, but no one is around at 4am and the damn sensors can't pick up bikes. 12/6/2005 1:34:23 PM |

that's wonderful. i'm sure that lots of "cagers" have all kinds of fancy rationales for their poor driving habits also.
you're not special. follow the rules like the rest of us or stay off the damn road.

no, i can understand that; but it is hardly comparable to splitting lanes in congested traffic. and if you're trying to draw that comparison, then you're the troll.12/6/2005 9:40:51 PM |

yeah, i couldn't tell you how many red lights i've run on a motorcycle. i'll wait for a while if it's a light i'm unfamiliar with. if i know it's a light that my bike won't trigger, i treat it just like a stop sign.
what sucks is when it's a 4 lane highway or something...but that doesn't happen often. most of them seem to work ok. 12/6/2005 10:36:50 PM |
