You win more games by getting 4-5 yards every carry, not 12 on one carry, zero on the next."

And you keep forgetting who their teammates were. Terrell Davis payed with one of the greatest quarterbacks ever with a great offensive line. He would have gotten 3 yards a carry on the Lions.

"Obviously better than Sander."

You've lost it.

Barry was probably a childhood hero to most of you people. That's terrific. I'm not suggesting you have to take your Sports Illustrated for Kids poster down off the wall. You're in college, learn to take the information made available to you and do something with it instead of just relying on a select few highlight runs that NFL Films shows every now and again..."

If DeShaun Foster keeps putting up numbers like he did this past weekend against the Falcons, and HE STAYS HEALTHY...he'll be a beast!

It would be different if it were only college kids who thought Barry was one of the best. Your problem lies in the fact that probably 90% of NFL experts will say he's top 5. I'll concede my WR argument about the Lions...Herman Moore was pretty solid...but you haven't hit on any of the other points.

You keep digging a hole with your Terrell Davis shit. But I mean, he did gain 2,000 yards one year. I mean, he's almost as good a running back as Jamal Lewis.

jbrick, im not gonna have the same argument with you that I already won in February.

You are 10 months late and you can't hang with me on this topic.

You can truly define someones importance to a team by what they do after he is gone. When Rivers left, the NC State vaunted offense COLLAPSED.

When Ricky Williams left the Miami Dolphins COLLAPSED.

When Emmit Smith held out the Cowboys started 0-2, then proceeded to win the Super Bowl when he returned.

When Barry Sanders left, the Detroit Lions won three more games.

I'm not saying the Lions were better BECAUSE Barry retired... surely there were other areas where the Lions improved. But the fact of the matter is, if Barry had been the best running back of all-time there would have clearly been a noticeable drop-off."

"The Lions made the playoffs the year after Barry left!!!!ONE11!!"

And they made the playoffs 6 of the 9 years while he was there. How many times have they made the playoffs since he left??? Your point??

"Barry Sanders runs for 14 yards. First down. Barry runs for a loss of 2 yards, Barry runs for 2 yards. 3rd and 10, Mitchell incomplete. Punt."

You missed the, "Barry Sanders runs for 60 yards...Barry Sanders runs for 40 yards." Or the fact that is maybe Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin were on the Lions that they would have made that 3rd and 10 throw. Or if John Elway and Shannon Sharpe/Rod Smith/Ed McAffrey were on the Lions that they would have made that 3rd and 10.

Your points are fine and dandy. But when NFL EXPERTS....not NC State message board "EXPERTS"...say that Barry Sanders is one of the best running backs all-time...I'll think I'll go with the NFL experts. I'm done arguing this shit too.

one of the best sure.... like around top ten or so.

but he's a far cry from #1

Barry wasnt used in the goalline package so he didnt score from short yardage.

Barry wasnt that fast so he didnt score on the long runs, he got chased down.

Barry was a yardage back.... and yards aren't unimportant. You just dont become the best back of all-time though when you cant dominate and put points on the board.

I'd take Shaun Alexander or LDT in a heartbeat over Barry Sanders. As would anyone....

Bush is damn good....but, no one is touching him. Has he played a decent defense yet? I watched the whole Fresno game, and he could have gotten in his car and driven through those holes.
Leinhart and Bush are really good, but its going to be fun watching them struggle with the Texans and Jets for a few years. Leinhart stands back there for 20 seconds and can't even hear the defense b/c there so far away. They both look like the real deal but they might as well be playing against Cary and Millbrook.

I don't put him in the "best of all time" category...but I always liked Corey Dillon. He was a standout on some miserable Bengal teams. I think he should have just been patient b/c he could see the turnaround coming. If they had kept Kitna in there, they would have gotten there a little faster, but I understand playing it for the long-term with Palmer. I know Dillon got a ring with Pats, but thats about like me signing with Spurs this year and taking a ring. He helped them, but they would have won it anyway.
I used to beat people a lot with Bengals and Dillon on Madden over the years. He's a beast.

If LT continues to play at the high level that he's been at over the last 3 years, he will make a very serious case for himself. Schottenheimer seems to think that he is the best ever.

Like I said in the other thread, Bush played against Oklahoma in the Championship game last year and had 6 carries for 12.5 yards.

So yes, he's played against a very good defense and done well.
