this one has duke 3, uconn 23

http://rpiratings.com/mensrpi.html

RPI is a lot of different things...not just who you've played

Quote :
"Factor I is the team's Division I winning percentage and is 25 percent of the RPI. Games against non-Division I opponents are not included in the normal RPI. For the men, beginning in 2004-05, home wins are weighted 0.6, neutral wins 1.0, and road wins count 1.4, with similar weights given to losses.

Factor II is the team's opponents' Division I winning percentage, or the team's schedule strength, excluding results against the team in question. It is 50 percent of the RPI.

Factor III is the team's opponents' opponents' Division I winning percentage, or the team's opponents' strength of schedule, excluding results against the team in question. Factor III is 25 percent of the RPI.

Factor IV is the bonus/penalty portion of the RPI and when used in conjunction with Factors I, II, and III is called the Adjusted RPI. It is used only for the women's RPI at this time. "

^^^ I understand that. They have also beaten everyone and blown the teams out they were supposed to. I'm not sure I understand ALL the components but I fail to see how that SOS is 137 like that site says comparing it heads up with Duke.

I mean it's poinitless to do this early in the season though but still..

FYI gg UVA.. losing on your home floor to 1-6 Fordham!

exactly. with every game played they become more accurate because it eliminates fluke wins and losses and takes more of an objective look (statistically that is)

ESPN's graphic just had duke as #19 in the country...foreshadowing?

i hung out with Marcus Ginyard last year before Halloween, hes actually a cool guy...kinda quiet at first though but is actually very intelligent about the ACC. i tried to convince him to go to STate but that didnt go over well. in 2 years UNC is gonna be a really really good team, same with Duke in about 3.

This game (St. Louis @ UNC) is horrible.

Both teams are missing layups and easy shots, and pretty much just handing the ball off to defenders.

I don't think run-and-gun is the way to beat either Duke or UNC. Defending the transition game is the way to stop UNC; running the court puts them in their territory. And with Duke, trying to run puts you at risk of turning the ball over to their trapping defense (we'll see how Texas handles it, though).

^^our offense is the perfect solution to duke's over aggressive defense, and it'll be a good counter-attack to the n00bery of the unc team.

^^^that's a strawman where you don't even defeat the strawman.

1. UNC is too young of a team to defend the break or run it themselves. They are more likely to fuck up than the other team.
2. It doesn't even make sense to say that running is bad against duke's trap. The trap works when they have time to set it up. durrrr
3. Have you watched any of their games? Both teams suck at defending the interior and defending dribble penetration. Duke is 1 deep inside, and UNC is too inexperienced.
4. ^^Our offense is not the only way to defeat pressure.

nonono. ive said this all along and get flamed everytime. ncstate would be a POWER if herb ran a regular offense. everything is in place except for a system. ncstates should at worst be right behind duke and carolina and way above wake.

this princeton offense will NEVER win a championship and will never be consistent. it can be good but not great. FIRE HERB

I've said this a million times. If herb would employ the offense we are running right now, but try to keep an up-tempo game, we would be really good.

We never play well when trying to slow down games. I mean fuck, we were slowing the ball down while we were losing with a minute to play against Iowa. The sad thing is that our team is good enough to run. The great part about the princeton offense is that all of your players learn how to pass and make cuts. We need to get down court quickly before defenses set and start making those cuts. Fuck running the shot clock down. All thats gonna do is let the defense rest while we pussy foot around.

If our players get tired, yank their asses...we have 8 or 9 players that can play...fuck em.

people say it every year too: if we run our offense well, it's unstoppable.

Even if you buy that garbage, the probability of all of our pieces coming together on one night against a good team is so low, we lose too much. I'd be happy if two of our players became really good at a pick and roll. It's simple, it's easy for them to perfect, and it's a pretty productive play. It's much more reliable than waiting for our players to read the tea leaves out on the court.

and someone please slap hansborough

Bullshit. The best thing they do right now is running the transition game. It's the perfect style for those freshmen--they're young but they're athletic. So instead of using half-court plays, they rely on the transition scores (and you can even see some of that in the game tonight, even as they play like ass). Add to that the fact that Williams's teams traditionally don't develop a good half-court offense, so if you stop the transition game they struggle to score.

You can run traps on the fullcourt, too. Durrrr.

I don't see what this has to do with anything I said. In fact, saying settling into the halfcourt is a viable way to attack both of them agrees with me.

whats better: saying our system could work because, if ran properly, it would take advantage of weaknesses in both teams' defenses? or saying "hey if we change our offense, we'll win!!"

i've seen two blocks that should've been charges and numerous hooking fouls, but right when i complained to a friend about the hooking, they called one on unc, so i applauded the refs for that one.

hansbrough is easily the biggest douche in the ACC this season.
