TDS is not a news program. Its satire. I loved the time John Stewart was on CNN with the Bowtie guy. They kept arguing about the bias and Stewart kept saying WE ARE ON THE COMEDY CHANNEL. Granted, a lot of Americans get their news from the program, but they do not gather their opinions from the jokes that are being made.

Everyone claims there is a liberal bias in education and the news. However, no one ever offers concrete proof of this bias. Actually, someone did a study that investigated all the reporting of Gore and Bush in the 2000 election. There was double the bad press for Gore than there was for Bush. If that means anything, its that there is a conservative bias in the media. Three weeks ago, when the CA congressman resigned for Embezzlement, you had to scroll to the very bottom of the article to find out he was a Republican. If they media is so biased, would they not have included his party in the title?

Just because you don't like the contents or the object of the information, does not mean its biased.

so if you watch fox you will be biased towards the right, cnn you will be bias towards the left

but if you get your news from TDS youre immune to having your opinions influenced?

look, the real point is they make fun of bush, and it's popular

so it's bad

THAT'S IT, THAT'S WHAT IT'S ABOUT

THAT'S THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE GIVE A SHIT ABOUT A SHOW ON COMEDY CENTRAL

your belief in that doesnt change the fact that if people gave a fuck about news and not jokes they wouldnt be using TDS as their source.

we arent talking about people who can take TDS with a grain of salt

we're talking about the people to use it as a news source.

^^who are those people?

nobody uses TDS as a source for news. many polls report people hear about news on TDS, but thats only becuase their lives are devoid of news aside from TDS becuase they dont give a fuck.

having an opinion about something because it was brought to your attention on a daily fake news and comedy show is a lot better than not caring enough to be informed about it at all.

Its a fucking COMEDY show. Its satire. Not to be taken seriously.

Use a legit source to get information about a topic like npr, fox, cnn, msnbc, newspapers, etc

You shouldnt let a comedy show influence your policital stance on something because the show's goal is to make something appear silly or funny, not to report factually on a topic.

debatable. I would rather you shut the fuck up than spout off something about a topic you heard on a comedy show.

now if you heard about it on the comedy show, then went and read about it from other sources who arent trying to get a laugh i have no problem

So, let's say for instance that I hadn't heard about Ted Stevens vicious defense of the $250 million bridge to nowhere until I watched the Daily Show. What would be wrong with letting their report on the matter influence me to think that Ted Stevens is a pork-barreling piece of shit?

Are we not to let political cartoons influence our opinions either? After all they are COMEDY and often SATIRE to boot.

^^If jokes could sway public opinions effectively, a comedian would be in the white house.

and if they can, its still is fine, most people find truth in comedy. you know....the whole seinfeld phenomenon.

I just dont know what kind of a partisan pretzel you need to be to try and claim that comedians shouldnt be allowed to do a parody/satire show on the topic of politics just a becuase a popular one is liberal.

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. At least combining the news with comedy lets you hear about the news while you're being entertained.

You're still uninformed, but at least you know what you're uninformed about.

Having spent the last week and a half answering phones for holiday shoppers I can attest to the existance of people that stupid. A frighteningly large number of such people. And an even more frightening number who live in NC.

Anecdotal, I know, but still offers a taste of what there is out there (and someone who will be counted in the "college graduate" category in the near future). I'm not buying him shit, gotta keep my elitist role.

Watch a few seconds of Leno's Jay Walking, open your ears at the DMV, or simply walk to the mall and talk to someone... people really are that stupid... most people, it seems.

Do you really think I would make someone up that I'm genetically tied to in some capacity? He seriously is that stupid. His brother, redneck supremo, is opposite end of the political spectrum and about as bright. He'd be the ultra right winger that blindly supports the President and believes very fundamentalist things about the Bible and many inaccurate things that he just thinks are right according to the Bible.
