No one says its a story about 2 adulterous men having an affari, they simply advertise it as two cowboys in the mountains that fall in love and get it on. I do have a problem with adultery and so does the church or "heartland of america" as you put it. I'm not protesting the film and neither is the overwhelming majority of Christians and heartlanders. I don't like seeing two grown men together just like I don't like seeing a grown man and a young girl, a grown man and a dog, or a grown man and women in S&M (No, I am not saying two adults together is the same thing as bestiality, just that there are things sexual in nature that I don't care to see). I just don't like it. No different than the way I don't like watching shows like jackass or excessively violent films... certain behaviors and subject matters I just don't care to be entertained by. I could care less if two men (or women) want to be romantic, that is their business, but it doesn't mean I want to watch it on film. I know people who don't want to see sexual relations of any kind in programs that they watch, regardless of orientation or whatever. Its just not something that entertains them, its meant to be something private to them. Its not about being close-minded, its about different flavors of taste. I swear liberls over-hype the presence of anti-gay agenda as much as conservatves over-hype the war on chrismas/christianity. Its just both sides speaking loudly about a handful ont he other side who are speaking real loudly. Honestly, I have met very few who really care what two consenting adults do.

Well, adultery is illegal in this state and in the military. Alienation of affection civil lawsuits are also relatively commonplace. Most everyone I talk to has no problem with civil unions. When you say marriage most people are going to think of a Christian ceremony, not a government certification. I think its more people worried that its going to force change in the recognition of Christian marriage. The government has no business in marriage anyways. If you look at the gay marriage bans in recent elections its clearly not something that is attributable strictly to the religious right.

Besides, who is "they"? You make these blanket generalizations about who is doing what but only a handful of people I've ever met or know personally remotely fit into your category of "they"

I count about 40 cinemas that are showing Brokeback Mountain. That's pretty dismal, I really want to see this film.
