I would've never expected Ced to get this good this fast, he has to be the most improved player in the ACC, hell he may even be the best big man in the league behind S Williams.
Who fucking blocks a hook shot?
Cam said in the postgame interview that they have to get the ball to Ced more often because he is the go-to-guy. Gavin was also talking about our post presence being the difference in this year's matchup against Miami. 12/15/2005 12:10:25 AM |

Sort of, I wish I could see the replay. It was on a fast break where the guy positioned himself sideways to Ced and tried to throw it up over him, but Ced just stuck his hand out and casually swiped it out of his hand. I yelped. 12/15/2005 12:19:12 AM |

eric williams is better, too. ced is ahead of the 3 year sendek curve, though. 12/15/2005 12:28:21 AM |

He had another one where some poor fucker tried to lay it up over top of him right in front of the rim. Ced actually slapped the ball upwards, at like a 45 degree angle. It went right to a UNCA player standing ready for the 3, but fortunately he missed.
I don't know, I'm extremely curious to see how Ced can handle himself against the bigger-bodied Williamses and Craig Smith. They were able to easily back him down last year, but we all know Ced last year /= Ced this year.

Defensively he will be fine against them...the question is on offense. 12/15/2005 12:47:26 AM |

Ced can handle Eric Williams. E-Wil gets by on his size alone.
Shelden and Craig Smith will be good matchups to watch, though. 12/15/2005 12:48:20 AM |

defensively he will be fine? he hasn't faced any quality big men yet. I bet he gets into foul trouble early. b-rack better be ready to step up.
If he is smart, he will try to get the other guy into foul trouble early. he hasn't really been tested in that area, though. we'll see how the education of ced simmons is truly coming in due time 12/15/2005 12:50:49 AM |

Sorry about that earlier, Charlie. My mistake.
Odd tidbit I learned from I think gopack.com earlier today, right now we're the second highest scoring team in the ACC with an average of 83.3 ppg. It seemed a little unbelievable to me but maybe so. 12/15/2005 12:53:41 AM |

yeah, he'll be fine, cause we double team down low well enough to keep him safe. Atsur and Evtimov are masters at swatting the ball away from big men on their way through the lane, even without a lengthy double team. Thhats what those euros do...and bethel is pretty good at it too. Plus I think he and brack will be playing at the same time for a lot of the game, so that will help...they can both block shots. 12/15/2005 12:54:57 AM |

Last year they could back him down until he was completely underneath the basket and out of the play, the big question is has he gained enough strength to hold his ground against them and make them shoot jumpshots instead of layups?
I think he'll do alright on offense against them, if nothing else he'll be an effective passer. 12/15/2005 12:55:22 AM |

^^^ are you serious. The acc is down, we played a bunch of cupcakes, we have experience. We definitely should be up there. If there is any year for us, this is it.

we are a legitimate top 15 team i think, but we have a tough stretch coming up, if we get through it with a win against UNC, we will be in perfect position. 12/15/2005 1:35:46 AM |

^if we dont suffer from typical ncsu/sendek chokitis, we should be top 15. However, we have an amazing ability to beat ourselves, and there is no real reason to discount this. 12/15/2005 1:44:33 AM |

Stress Fracture needs a new term, cause people don't realize how serious it can be.
Yes, it says "fracture", but it takes FOREVER for that injury to heal.
If Costner does indeed have a stress fracture, then I don't expect him back soon.

this just in, ALL of the freshmen are bench warmers!
costner was definitely the worst, but herb has a soft spot for shooting big men who are defensive liabilities. McCauley is a much better big man than costner. Costner was also slow, weak, and out of shape -- destined for garbage time this year. 12/15/2005 9:46:16 PM |
