A friend of mine has a 05 Corolla with a 6 speed. When you put it in reverse it does the "beep beep beep" thing like a truck would. Except its an interior chime that says you are in reverse instead of a outside noise that would signal for others to be aware the truck with limited visibility is backing up.

What doesn't work about them? I've seen people make the cables from aircraft wire from Home Depot so you might be able to fix it (if thats the issue) on the cheap.

Regardless, I bet the money to fix it is less than the fine for an inspection if you get caught.

richthoften is that handle actually broken or does it just not work

cause i think i know what may be the problem

Oh, it's quite broken. Pull on it and there is no resistance, I can actually see where the metal snapped. It's a known issue on these cars, metal fatigue in the (poorly cast) handles themselves. Have a replacement part, but I've been stalling on getting it painted.

Thanks though....

^^^ like the cables are dangling down underneath the car, they're not attached at all. I remember someone looking at them and telling me it would be expensive (but this was your old basic mechanic guy) and i'm not sure if the whole thing needs replacement or just attached properly. I can't lift the car so i have no idea myself.

But yeah havn't been caught yet without inspection (crosses fingers)

Too light, suspension is shot, and has really narrow tires.

The result? Stepping on the brakes makes it slide, and it sways from side to side at high speeds.

[Edited on December 17, 2005 at 5:13 AM. Reason : also, my tape player just broke, and the headliner sags]

another junk yard fix, unless it's the wiring.

I appreciate the comments about cheap fixes. I know those two things aren't big deals. But I've been a little lazy, plus my car's in Charlotte now and I'm in NYC.

As far as my brakes though, who are you to tell me that I beat up on my brakes? B/c I don't.

93 accord, shaking at idle. I need to replace at least the easy front engine mount but I'm too lazy.

Oh and about the ebrake problem from above.
I once ordered some "OEM replacement" brake cables from rockauto.com, that were nowhere near close to fitting for about $15 a piece. Had to get the nissan ones for $75/each. I felt much better about parking my old 5-speed on hills after that.

The passenger side evidently was hit on my truck before I bought it. the doors do not shut properly so when you get up to highway speeds wind noise becomes very annoying. Wasn't something I was looking out for when I purchased it. Every time you close suicide door you have to slam it and THEN slam the main door otherwise the door won't shut properly at all... doesn't seem like a cheap fix so I'm living with it.

and...

yay! my car just "passed" (well after a lil persuasion) apparently it idles too high too.

new thing i hate.

battery is too small so it slides back and forth while driving.

i had a similar problem.

pull the IAC, remove old gasket, spray with cleaner, drain, repeat until clean, replace figure-8 gasket, profit.

clean EGR system.

i managed to take care of a majority of the shaking. i likely need to pull it again and clean it better, but i didn't want to put the time in. eitehr that or it needs a new IAC.

the superformance kit cobra w/ built 460 would spin the tires anywhere...

it would top out due to aerodynamics @ 175 but if you stomped it then the tires would spin and you would slow down... kinda neato

Constant rattles, although I think when I put the new head unit in, I got rid of most of them.

detailing the plastic cladding takes forever.

scratch in my expensive recaro leather seat that I can't help but wince at everytime I see it. (and the botched repair)

But everytime I hit the right pedal, it puts a giant grin on my face regardless.

i don't understand. how do your steering wheel controls light up, but the center console doesn't? something is broken. unless i've started smoking rock again, the tsx i drove had a stupid blue backlighting to everything.

maybe not

can you reseal them?

Our headlight enclosures (which I come to find out are HID-legal) can be seaparated if you soak them in boiling water for like 10 minutes.

Then you can reattach them using marine-grade silicon.

yeah, i just don't want to put the effort in to do it. the car just keeps getting more and more shitty.

i wish i had gotten a lexus instead.

i dunno if it's the seal around the frame/if the lens has developed a pinhole leak/one of the O-rings around the HID or regular high beam bulb has gone bad.

i guess it's time to take the front of the car apart in 40degF weather.
