If I were going to raise a family, I would go for former British colonies. They tend to be stable and prosperous.

If it were just myself, I would live in Brazil or Argentina.

Probably Germany or Austria.

I've got family in both places and I speak the language.

are there any warm countries that don't have serious racial or gender discrimination problems? everywhere I can think of has a relatively cold climate.

In my book, Egypt is about on the same level as South Africa. I could dig either of them, but that's if i really wanted to go to Africa. I kind of want to visit africa, it's second on my continents list, after asia.

Chile - low taxes, small government, rapidly growing economy. Also, the middle portion of the country has a pleasant, mediterranean climate, the food is good, seafood is plentiful and skiing is available just a few miles to the east, in the Andes. Oh yeah, can't forget to mention the chicas latinas...

South Korea - low taxes, small government, rapidly growing economy. Also, their broadband is faster and far more available than ours. They have cooler cell phones. I love korean food and I've alwasy had a thing for the azn ladies...

I would go to New Zealand. I lived there for a year and it's pretty awesome.

It's really hard to immigrate there, however.

For all those who mentioned Netherlands. (Yes that is the country Amsterdam is in! Some people seem to be unaware of that). I lived there for one and half years now. And I can tell you it is nothing like people think it is. It is not some sort of hippie place where everybody chills out and smokes a joint. Actually it is quite the opposite. Dutch liberal laws has more to do with practicality than the fact that the dutch are liberal and open minded themselves.

Just thought I'd let you know because there seems to be so many misconceptions about this country. When I tell people I live in Holland I get so many crazy questions. My impression is that Denmark is more liberal in the way people think Holland is.

Canada. I like the mountains and I like the cold. Only bad thing is all the socialism prevalent up there, but considering the direction the US is going in I might just have to suck it up and tolerate it.
