What kind of heads, etc are you putting on?

runs as good as any i've ridden in...can't really tell anything negative from the mileage
either kooks or the new LG street series headers still need to be ordered...buying a new 4wheeler and a suburban to use as a daily driver puts a strain on the ol wallet
G5X3 cam from LG and LS6 casting heads ported at MTI to their "Stage 2E specs" I already have. I'll have to flycut the pistons because the heads have been milled .030" but other than that it shouldn't be too bad of an install. Should get me over 400rwhp pretty easy and sound pretty damn nasty.
Also... have some comp cams 921 dual springs on the heads and will probably put on the LS6 intake and some different cats while I have it apart

Milege has never mattered to me, but some examples of older babied and very low milege cars do seem to be extra 'fresh', beyond that, I don't care. I think higher milege is not necessarily a bad thing, especially on newer cars, it could mean more highway miles as opposed to in-city driving, which is a good thing.
Anyway, my money's burning a hole in my pocket! If I don't find a vette, I'm going to have to bite on something else... Seriously though, thanks for keeping an eye out. Ahmet 1/13/2006 11:04:35 AM |

ah yea
found a set of used kooks headers earlier... just gotta order the ass-ton of little things now... damn total for gaskets, head bolts and oil pump will probably be as much as these headers were 1/13/2006 3:02:35 PM |

the G5X3 is a pretty big cam. I thought about that along with a set of slightly ported LS6 heads, but since this is my daily (and will be for a while) I didn't want THAT much cam. I might go for the X2, though. 1/14/2006 3:13:24 PM |

it's not too big... i know of a few people who DD with it. 1/14/2006 3:22:38 PM |

auto or manual? from what i've seen the manuals need a 4.10 gear to make use of the X3 w/o any real problems when in traffic. 1/14/2006 4:26:12 PM |

2 auto, 1 manual. the manual has the optional 3.42 ratio. 1/14/2006 4:36:28 PM |

pfft.... no cam is too big your foot just isn't heavy enough to use it.
nahh i'm kidding there is such thing as too big but i love the sound of a v8 that doesn't like to idle it brings a smile to my heart and a tear to my eye. 1/14/2006 4:39:50 PM |

The manual seems to do fine in regular traffic? Any surging or did whomever tune it do a good enough job so that it doesn't do that? All the FRCs have the 3.42 rear, but I was just under the impression the low end loss because of the cam would require the higher (numerically) ratio. 1/14/2006 5:21:35 PM |

I don't really have a price cap but I couldn't bring myself to spend 30+k on a used C5 when they can be had for half that. I don't care about bling the least bit, but I do care about the car loosing it's value in the year or two that I have it (or in all likely hood, the 6-10 months that I will modify it, track it, and get rid of it). ^^it's certainly not anywhere as smooth as stock, but still very driveable in stop/go traffic. i'm not sure who did the tune on it off hand, but i know he had it professionally dyno tuned after the h/c/i. 1/14/2006 6:44:55 PM |

The general statement everybody says about a cam that big is if it's tuned right it'll be fine to drive with no surging or anything annoying like that... but with a shitty tune you'll hate it. It's a pretty good size cam... should be interesting, I'll post dyno sheets whenever I get time to put all this stuff on but it'll probably be another month or two 1/14/2006 8:45:28 PM |

I guess my Vette search is over. Unless a screaming deal comes by, I'm going to stick to my M3, as I don't have enough cash around to pick up another high $ car. Ahmet 2/19/2006 10:21:39 PM |
