Yeah what 15 years later. Peyton is 29 and the BEST NFL QB not matter what you fucks say. He WILL win a Super Bowl.

^^iff (if and only if) the following occurs:

1. He changes his last name from Manning to Aikman or Young. (Remember that his father never made it to the big game either, much less the play-offs).

2. He buys a ticket and attends the Superbowl as a spectator, and somehow wins a contest at the Superbowl (maybe the Brutus Award for the best backstab of the year)

3. He trades himself to an NFC team such as the Cowboys or 49ers. (Since he coaches himself, I figure he can trade himself also.) This is followed shortly by #1.

"There are some people who will call Peyton Manning the dreaded "C" word today. Yeah … "choker." But calling him a choker simply isn't fair, because Peyton Manning is far more than someone who fails when it counts year after year after year.

For instance, he's also someone who throws his teammates under the bus, which -- it goes without saying -- is something every quarterback and team leader should try to do whenever possible. (Are you listening, Tom Brady? This is why you don't set regular season passing records! You need to be less of a team player!) Or not.

Looks like there was a little trouble with the protection, huh Peyton?
By now I'm sure you've all heard or read about Manning's postgame comments Sunday, in which he said: "I'm trying to be a good teammate here … let's just say we had some problems with protection."

Sure, it may sound as though Manning stabbed his linemen in the back -- or in the knee, in the Colts' case -- but I say cut him some slack. The guy is frustrated about coming up short every season. All I want is for him to learn from his mistakes and take more responsibility for his own failings when the Colts are inevitably eliminated next season.

That's why I've put together a few team-friendly alternatives he can use the next time he hears the words, "I'm trying to be a good teammate here" come out of his mouth. I'm hopeful they'll be of use to him.

While you're at it, print this article out and save it so you can laugh each and every year that Manning finds a new excuse. It was the "idiot kicker" a while back, and now his offensive line didn't play up to Manning's talent....

you are retarded... first of all, he is known around the league as someone who defends/supports his teamates all the time, every press conference he praises his o-line, said all of the records last year were just as much the o-line and wr's accomplishment as it was his... and in what you just quoted, he said "protection" not the offensive line. protection includes o-line play as well as personel, formations, blocking schemes etc. If you watched the game the Steelers had the perfect game plan, executed it perfectly, the Colts as a team, manning, the o-line, coaches everybody couldnt adjust to compensate for it.

Like I said, you all probably love John "I wont play for the team that drafted me" Elway even though he failed a lot lot more than Manning has...

Oh, and the idiot kicker remark had nothing to do with a loss. It was in response to stupid ass comments that Vanderjagt made

You know nothing about football, shut up and go play some Madden before you embarass yourself some more.

I do have to admit this got a chuckle out of me

""I'm trying to be a good teammate here … so I'm going to let Tee Martin start for me in the playoffs from now on."

thats like a defensive back saying "our pass coverage sucked today"... thats not calling out his teamates anymore than himself.. he is saying the entire portion of the game sucked

idiots.

So, according to your logic, Marvin Harrison is a shitty player/choke artist, Edge is one, Stokely, Freeney, etc.

You have no clue what a team sport means... like I said 100 times, QBs get WAY too much credit for wins, and WAY too much blame for loses.

I was just referencing the fact that Manning might have something about him that makes him NOT the team player he is made out to be. Somehow his authority supercedes that of Dungy, he criticized his offensive line (protection may be a phase of the game, but its the phase he's not a part of and therefore he is criticizing those involved in protection ex. his offensive line). He learned from his daddy the importance of looking out for #1. Archie had one of the worst pro records of any quarterback, and has since made it his mission to live vicariously through his two sons....

Peyton may be a great quarterback, but he is NOT a great teammate. Great teammates don't call each other out after a tough loss.... Jay Davis was not a great quarterback, but he most certainly was a great teammate. He took all the blame and criticism, and didn't place any blame on another player. Jay Davis could have easily done so, but he didn't. That's a great teammate....

this shows you have NO clue about football. The QB plays a HUGE part in protection, along with the center he is in charge of protection.

This all comes down to State fans and Philip Rivers worshipers being pissed about Eli (who i admit is a little bitch, but HE did what he did, Peyton didnt do it) and taking it out on Peyton just because he is his brother.

everyone on the colts talks about what a team player he is, everyone in the league does as well. He is one of those people that everyone wants to find something wrong with just because everyone else likes him.

Who's Eli? I wasn't even thinking about him. He actually seems to be doing well outside of the fact that daddy is always watching. My problem lies with the perception that P. Manning is the be-all end-all quarterback for all ages NFL god. He's human, just like the rest of the league.

I just find it funny that you sit here and defend someone who provides new and interesting reasons to be NOT worth it. P. Manning is a good player. I never said he wasn't. I am just re-iterating the fact that he is NOT a good teammate. Yes, he calls out protections. Yes, he calls the plays. He is the coach of the Indianapolis Colts (Dungy is his administrative assistant). P. Manning called out his protectors in a press conference when he used the phrase "I'm trying to be a good teammate here...." There is no arguing the fact that once you utter those words, what follows is a clear attack on another player on your team. You are just trying to cover your sorry butt when the crap hits the fan. Manning was trying to be a good teammate, and he failed.

Just stop defending the indefensable. I'm not hating. I'm just stating some clear and simple observations about a player who you think is god.

but what I am saying is that all of you hated him before that comment for no reason.

its not like you all loved him until Sunday night... I admit that one comment was a bit out of line but that is far outweighed by all his other positive comments and all the blame he heaped on himself after the game.

If Brady had said that SAME thing everyone would be like "oh he is being a strong leader, he is kicking his players in the tail, getting them motivated, good job!"

To be honest, I like P. Manning a ton more than T. Brady. Brady has the same characteristics branded on him by the media, but also is the most metrosexual person I've ever seen. His press conferences look like off-stage at a fashion show. At least Manning speaks/acts like a man, not a pansy.

So, no. I would not defend Brady for the same comments. I would be ranting even more.

I hate Brady!

There, that's better. I have a disdain for the Patriots and Brady that runs about a mile wide. I've been a Steelers fan for 20 years, and I hate the Patriots more than the Eagles. The Patriots are in the Big East division of the NFL, and always win their division by default.

Hate Patriots

Tom Brady just shrugged off the loss and basically conceded that they (the Patriots) were a good team that just didn't play as well as they could have. He didn't blame anyone like Peyton did. But I guess you react differently when you have 3 rings from the past 4 ears insteade of no rings at all

i dislike Brady's abilities on the football field...b/c he more often than not finds a way to win game i don't want him to win

i don't really care about Manning when he's playing

their attitude off the field is interesting

Brady and the Pats are humble, whereas Peyton's frustrated

but like i said...i guess that comes with what the Pats have done and what the Colts haven'
