Ideal running temperature is like 45 degrees. You are only cold for the first minute or two, after that it's perfect.

I like it cool, but not cold. Mid 40's to Mid 50's is my preference, but I can probably go 20 to 100.

Sweaty shirts are teh suck, but I'm not 1337 enough to justify high performance knits.

I can't imagine why Krispy Kreme would want to sponsor this. Sure, they get some of the registration money to pay for the doughnuts, but they're gonna get a lot of people with bad mental associations after they eat a dozen doughnuts and throw up shortly thereafter.

I don't think there's any way I could do it. I don't even think I could eat a dozen doughnuts in an hour. I love me some Krispy Kreme, but I get sick of regular glazed after 3 at the most.

This thread has 1004 views as of right now and you think they are worried about whether ten or twenty college kids will quit eating donuts? If a news channel does a 20 second piece on it they will get thousands of views as well.

wow great... that's just what the world needs more: obesity, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, and death.

well actually, it is kind of like the darwin awards. go ahead and do it... do it every month... it will leave the world with more sq ft per person.

Well, they have to run 4 miles; which implies some level of physical fitness. It's not like one box of donuts is going to do a healthy person in.

On slickdeals there's a thing about buying 12 KK doughnuts and you get 12 valentines for free and on each valentine there is a coupon for a free doughnut.

to answer some questions that have been asked.

Fluids are allowed during consumption and running of the KKC. However, probably anything but water may make you puke. You are already digesting 2400 calories.

There will be an official route, but no traffic control this year. The route being planned is runner-friendly.

t-shirts were designed last night, looking cool

yes, and all of said views will be associating KK with the challenge - namely avoiding a puke after eating KK doughnuts.

FUCK THAT. i've eaten a whole dozen before and the last think i wanted to do was any type of phyisical exercise with the exception of getting deep throated and dipped in some VAG.

It's not the fuel anyone needs in their body. I don't have any competitive events until March 25, though. I should be able to mitigate the damage by then. I also won't eat anything the rest of the day. I'll just drink water.

some ppl arent just built for it i guess. i think my best mile ever was around 8, but when i do multiples i cant do very well (which was why averaging around 9 was good for me when doing 3). im sure that most ppl, whether you believe it or not, can barely run 1 mile.

answers to more questions:

The Hot Now sign will be on when we show for our doughnuts, so this is quality stuff you are scarfing down

Timers will be timing the event [A note on this, many of you are debating how fast this can be done. The hour time-limit should not at all be restrictive. But it still is a challenge, the doughnuts are the deciding factor on a fast time or not. The best time last year was 34:27, by Ben Gaddy. He managed to get the dozen scarfed down the dozen in 7 minutes. That means he was averaging over 8 minutes/mile. However, running back took significantly longer than running there.]

Please register early online if you plan on attending. There will be limited registration on race-day, and registration at the event will be $15 instead of $10.

8 min/mile x 4 miles + 7 minutes doughnuts = 39 mins > 34:27.

Does not compute. He was either running sub-7:00 miles, or it's not really 4 miles.

BTW, what do the registration numbers look like so far? Are they going to have the doughnuts ready when we get there or is there going to be a logjam?

can you run and eat or do you have to sit and eat until the doughnuts are gone?

I think you should have to sit. It would be way too easy for someone to ditch them along the route.

ya oops on that calculation. so yes, you're correct, he must've been doing sub-7 miles.

registration numbers are looking great. we are coordinating with KK to have all the doughnuts ready for the runners, so there should not be a logjam.

you have to sit and eat the doughnuts. when the dozen is done, you can run back.

hmm, i could definitely see 34 minutes being broken...a couple months ago i was running low 9's for two miles, so if i could get out in 10 flat, eat the donuts in 10 minutes i should have plenty of time to jog back.

haha, that's totally believable. sub 7:00 miles are no big deal at all. hell, when i'm in shape, i can run 3 miles at a 6:30 pace, and i'm not much of a runner. i think a good runner (and i don't even mean like Olympic-good...just a good runner) could easily average running two sub-7:00 miles twice with a break in the middle, even if he did have a gut full of Krispy Kremes on the return leg.

I'm not questioning the pace there, Duke. I'm questioning the original calculation. Don't think I'm spellbound by sub-7:00 pace. I am no more than an average runner at best and I can keep below 7:00 for close to 5 miles straight.

So you were running back-to-back ~4:40's? Now that's pretty good.
