i blame the buffet for why there are seemingly more fat ppl in the south.
but yes, you'd be a retard to think that you're gonna get away with a healthy pill diet. hell i've dropped 10 lbs in the past 6 months (or less) just from eating MILDLY healthier foods. i dropped the last couple cuz i walk more being back on campus. this is all for someone who is already very skinny so i imagine that number would be much larger if i was...much larger. 1/29/2006 9:30:38 AM |

Are you stupid, man? Walking back and forth between the buffet and one's seat is the most exercise a lot of people ever get. 1/29/2006 11:38:22 AM |

Well I mean I can understand how people can be like 20 lbs over weight...just from a bad diet and lack of working out....but I don't understand how people can get to be 300 lbs and up...I mean that's like you're just trying to be fat 1/29/2006 8:22:15 PM |

It's pretty simple, really. They consume more calories than they burn for a long period of time. 1/29/2006 9:45:28 PM |

Youd think that some people would decide to lose weight once it gets too bad.
The problem is that most people just plain cant lose weight to save their life. Its too hard. 1/29/2006 9:56:57 PM |

Can you read? Yes, for most people, its too hard. People dont chose to be fat, MOST people try to lose weight. Most people fail. Thats why most people over 30 are overweight. 1/29/2006 9:58:59 PM |

^^I was basically asking you to clarify what was "too hard" about it. They don't care enough or don't try hard enough. It's some of both in most cases.

im sure there are plenty of skinny ppl who wouldnt have the will to lose weight if they actually gained any.
our convenience-based society doesnt make it any easier im sure, but gotta take what you got and do the best ya can. 1/29/2006 10:17:14 PM |

Most people gain weight because of their lifestyle.... when they attempt to lose the weight they only focus on food... they aren't getting at the things that are really causing the weight to be there. Others just get comfortable... and then get to the point that they don't care... and then when it gets bad they decide that it's simply not worth it to go back. The only people that I truly believe cannot make themselves healthier are people with certain medical problems (i.e. thyroid problems). Personally, they could be really nice people... but if they don't take the initiative to make sure that their belly doesn't hang out below their shirt... I don't really care to be around them. That's just gross (as well as the plumbers who can't keep their pants secured around their waist, or the XXXL girls that wear thongs.... please people, it's just common courtesy). *end rant* 1/30/2006 11:23:16 AM |

I never got this myself. It seems a large part of our population will say "OK, I need to work on this" at about 20 lbs, myself included. So most people aren't anything worse than a little pudgy. What I don't get, like you, is how people just gain a TON of weight and never stop. I understand that they are eating more than they need, but what separates the very overweight from rest? It's got to be something more than simply "they eat more".1/30/2006 12:02:43 PM |

in all fairness there are a myraid reasons why people get that big, it think most being in their heads. there are some that yes are just lazy but it think a lot realize they are 2 bus seats big but have some underlying problem a little more extensive than just laziness... Granted i never got that big, but my freshman and sophmore year i put on 30 pounds that i just lost over the past 8 months.... thast a little different than 300 but... for me i have a relatively stable life in many respects 1/30/2006 12:19:00 PM |
