I believe its something like when he played there (Like in the 20's maybe), they brought a live ram to the sidelines to cheer him on.

Then something about for good luck in a football game where they were heavy underdogs, someone rubbed the ram's head on the final play and they wound up winning the game. Thus, the ram stuck and "Ramses" was born. They decided to keep the ram after Merrit's graduation and adopted him as thier mascot.

It is actually pretty funny that I know more UNC history than 99.9% of thier fanbase and I hate the Mofo's.

while we're on the subject of Wal-Mart UNC fans, I went with my brother to a bowling alley in Gastonia, and it was seriously one of the biggest contingencies of Wal-Mart UNC fans i had ever seen. it didn't help that one of the guys at the shoe pickup area was wearing a Duke shirt and Duke hat.

We're not jealous of Carolina. When State grads go out into the workforce, they find professional jobs that apply their degree. When Carolina grads go out into the workforce, they wind up settling for the first company that will hire them which usually starts with Mc or Burger.... How in the world can we be jealous of that???!?!?!?!

I had the job I wanted 2 weeks after graduation. Many of my friends from UNC still don't have the job they want.... NOT JEALOUS AT ALL!
