That explains why I haven't gotten a single response from the two dozen "technical student" jobs that I have applied for at SAS Institute that I am fully qualified for apart from the "quantitative degree" requirement.

Eh, both my brother and sister have humanities degrees (Anthropology and Psychology, respectively) and they are both doing quite alright for themselves.

You just have to be flexible, creative, and not a fuckup.

Which, if you're a humanities major, shouldn't be much of a problem, except maybe the last one.

Actually, they probably have another 100 applicants per position who are just as qualified as you.

I wasn't trying to knock Phi, but I'm sure you agree it would be a bad idea to get an undergrad degree it it alone and expect to have good job prospects.

Yeah, SAS is a sweet place. (I don't work there but I've toured.)

not better than everyone
just better than people with liberal arts degrees from an engineering school
and most other people with liberal arts degrees

Major in everything then someone will have to take you, or at least give you lots of grant money.

Design, like engineering, is actually something NC State is good at. You could get a worthless liberal arts degree from NCSU, and then make something of yourself but you probably would have done just as well, and maybe even better, without the degree.

Point being, you're screwed.
