thats what i was thinking. he was much bigger in the first few seasons and has had a show here and there, but 90% of the time he's less prevalent than most other characters.

It isn't the christians fault they make more sense than scientology. They made the mythology as rediculous as they could given the imagination available at the time.

A free society breeds creativity, as scientology shows.

if scientology had been made up first, people would think christianity was retarded.

One of Duke's Divinity professors:

Quote :
"Before you go and make fun of Mormons, remember that we still beleive that an old man talked to a bush, a different old man called down fire from the sky, a young man came back to life after a horrible death, and his followers were able to speak languages they'd never spoken before suddenly because they had fires over their heads. So keep that in mind before you make fun of anyone's beliefs. Except for scientologists, they're wack-jobs."

My faith is kinda silly when it's put that way, but at least I don't believe in ghost cats possessing people's brains or something.

Mormonism is significantly crazier than Christianity, if for no other reason than it has a bunch of crazy shit piled on top of a Christian foundation.

You've all been brainwashed by the Thetans. Chef was right.

Oh, and someone needs to do an Isaac Hayes version of this:

Hey, I just remembered that South Park had a depiction of the prophet Muhammad in the Super Best Friends episode.

Yet no embassies were burned down.

What about the anachronism of having the aliens being flown here in DC-9 airplanes? With rocket engines? Kind of increases the crazy-shit factor.

i liked this take on it from matt stone:

Quote :
""In ten years and over 150 episodes of 'South Park,' Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslim, Mormons or Jews," Stone said in a statement issued by the Comedy Central network. "He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show.""

The interesting thing was that he was on Opie & Anthony in November of last year when they aired this episode. A caller phoned in and asked him about that exact episode, and how he felt about it being a scientologist. Isaac said people can't take anything Trey & Matt say seriously. He made several comments about how it was nothing at all that bothered him.

Guess God, aka Tom Cruise called and had words with him. What a fucking hypocrite. If I find the audio I'll link it for you.

I like how once an opinion or belief is labeled "religious" it's suddenly untouchable, something sacred that is beyond ridicule or criticism.

Stupid fucking beliefs are stupid fucking beliefs, people.

i hope you are high, or joking

and yes, as some of you have said...it seems that the scientologists put major pressure on isaac to quit, hell tom cruise went through a court battle to prevent the episode from being shown in europe, and the scientologists have a long history of throwing litigation and tons of cash at anything that resembles a threat to their religion, which is why most people see it as a cult....anyways the delay from when the episode aired and when this news cames makes it pretty clear that isaac was just tired of catching shit at his local center...

Tonight they are showing two South Parks on Comedy Central.

The first episode: Chef Aid.
The second: the Tom Cruise/scientology one.

So my postmodernism professor said today that L. Ron Hubbard created Scientology because a friend at a poker game bet him he couldn't come up with a successful religion.

That's. Fucking. Awesome.
