Team B offering J. Rollins J. Sosa D. Dellucci " |
I hope you both were being sarcastic about Team B getting the better end. Pettite is solid and good for 17 wins. Howard might go off and hit 40 home runs this year, nigga is a helluva player. Barmes was hitting like .350 last year before he got hurt.
How does Team B get a steal? Rollins is nice. Jorge Sosa is decent maybe 10-12 wins. Dellucci does not even start half the time.

Quote : | "On the Devil Rays:
I really believe this team will be a winner, but never under the team name which they currently possess. The team has to be sold and moved to Orlando, etc.
Anyways, I believe they have a great lineup. But, the problem is that they have made no effort to assemble a pitching staff other then when they ass-raped the mets for kazmir. They have 6 OF's that could start on most teams (I consider Huff an OF, he is playing third again and is a terrible 3B) Huff, Gathright, Baldelli, Crawford, Young, Gomes. Their IF is the prolblem. Lugo is a decent SS and Cantu is a star in the making, but Huff at 3rd is not the answer and he will make 60 errors if he plays there this whole season. Also, BJ Upton needs to be converted to be an OF. He is a horrible infielder, but has an amazing bat. So you see the problem they have. Lots of underpaid high potential guys. Well if they trade them for pitching, they most likely wont get an even trade, and also any decent 25-28 y/o pitcher in the MLB will be making some nice change for a salary.
That is the reason they cant trade for pitching unless they trade prospects. And in baseball, a 5 star pitching prospect is way more valuable than a 5 star hitter. So you see the trap they fall in.

American League Yankees fans, the 2006 season will be the slow start of your team reverting to what they were in the '80s. Pitching's a mess and Damon won't be enough to save ya (don't even get me started on that crappy farm system). The Red Sox could easily miss out on the postseason if Foulke and Schilling are as mediocre as they were in '05. The Blue Jays will contend for the wild card and could conceivably win the East if the powerhouses stumble. The Indians are the surprise team for '06, hands down. The West is a two-team race that could go either way and wouldn't surprise me if the Angels got into the postseason.
National League After the 2003 season, I just stopped picking against the Braves. As a resulut, I'm not picking against them until they actually lose the East. The Mets are for real this time--no more false starts for the Boys from Queens. The Phillies had their chance to overtake the Braves and blew it. Get ready for even more pain and suffering in the City of Brotherly Love. Cardinals win the Central by default...Yawn! Astros will feel the impact of the Rocket's retirement. Hey Cubs fans, do not blame me for your team's potential fifth place finish beacuse your team has nothing left and your best two pitchers can't even stay healthy for the start of the season. The Giants reclaim their rightful throne in the West as a steroid-free Bonds returns. Speaking of Barry, there is no way he touches Aaron because age and time will finally catch up to him. Also, fewer pitchers will pitch to him--see even more intentional walks.
Postseason This is the Dynasty of Broken Curses and Ending Droughts. Given that, the 2006 World Series will be a rematch of the 1954 Fall Classic. Since the National League will win the All-Star Game and have home-field advantage, the home team's post-1979 WS Game 7 streak will stay intact as the Indians defeat the Giants in six games and capture the title.

The Mets starters only NEED to go 5-6 innings a night with the depth/durability of the pen. Heilman can pitch 2 innings if need be nearly every time out.
The Mets rotation CAN be a weakness but it's also not bad when healthy -- Glavine had similar #s to Hudson last year, Zambrano had BETTER numbers then both Ramirez and Thomson, Pedro is seemingly healthy, and Heilman is there to jump back in to the rotation if need be. I actually wouldn't be surprised if we see Mike Pelfrey by August in the rotation as well..
I definitely recognize it can be a weakness but it's not BAD..
Anyway, I'm heading out for the night. I'll get to some more stuff tomorrow.. 4/4/2006 7:59:53 PM |

true, pedro is a stud and glavine is an average #2 starter
but if either of them hits the DL the rotation is fucked
no way heilman can carry the team, and zambrano is shit
and while glavine's 2005 numbers were strikingly similar to hud's, glavine is in his age 40 season, hud is in his age 30
glavine is due to fall off, hudson should continue to improve or at least plateau off
either way, pitching is going to kill one of these teams
affiliations aside, i honestly believe the mets will see the worst of it4/4/2006 8:09:28 PM |

Uh, Heilman is setup man. He doesn't need to carry the team. The Mets pen is probably the best in the NL. They finally gave up a run after 21 and a third scoreless last night... The only real question mark is Julio and Willie is pretty much relegated him to mopup role.. even he hasn't given up a run in 3 straight appearances..
For this thread: I was actually pretty much against the Seo for Sanchez [and Schmoll] deal but Seo is getting roughed up again tonight and Sanchez still hasn't given up a run yet (and has only lost 1 of like 7 inherited runners and that was on a sac fly).. What are some of your opinions on Jae Seo? He looked great in the WBC but has been roughed up big time so far this year.. oh and Nomar is back healthy FWIW again..
** Oh and DiNardo is the worst starter in all of baseball...
Hey Boobs do you have Extra Innings or MLB.tv out of curiosity?
