the countless threads about the spray chalk in chit chat & the lounge only gave more name recognition to a guy who had at one point in the race been an underdog. (also senate/elections committee screwing up and giving them a week extra to campaign) but none of it matters now the elections are basically over.

if you thought ppl were unhappy with cody's chalk, then it seems like ppl are even less pleased with langley.

Langley also had a complaint filed against him for door-to-door soliciting in Tucker residence hall. Dan Barber, freshman in First Year College, said Langley was going to rooms on the second floor of Tucker around 10 p.m. Monday night asking if residents had voted and who they voted for. "I asked him if he'd gotten permission to go door-to-door and he said he doesn't, 'go by those rules,'" Barber said. The subcommittee decided that the complaint is out of their jurisdiction and recommended notifying University Housing. "At any rate I don't feel I know the housing policies well enough," Megan Peters, elections commissioner and sophomore in English, said. Cody Williams, candidate for student body president and junior in agricultural business management, had two complaints filed against him regarding instant messages sent to voters yesterday. According to the subcommittee, the statutes have no mention of instant messenger policies. Langley's clothesline campaign memorabilia, which includes rope tied to trees, violates the landscape features policy in the student body constitution that states candidates are not allowed to attach things to land features. "We're in agreement that the clotheslines are technically in violation," Peters said. "But I think it was to keep [candidate's memorabilia] from harming the landscape features. I don't see the harm." Langley received complaints regarding 10 different issues, ranging in date from March 3 to April 4. The issues ranged from posting flyers in restrooms to a phone conversation where Danielle Seale, polling director, said Langley made promises of good positions in the executive branch when he is elected in exchange for quick sentencing."

I didn't really care about langleys chalking in inappriopriate places where rain can't reach... but lol that he e-mailed quick to get support, lol at the greek ties (i'm sure grumpyGOP is loving those), and lol that he tried to offer people good positions in the executive branch to get this stuff swept through.

I think spray chalking should be disallowed in future elections. It was a terrible idea. We've had several monsoons, and hundreds of students walking over it every day, and it's still readable.

Excellent. I wasn't on campus at 2 am to see it, but I'm glad it's being done.

Per the previous thread, I figured the delay was due to dealing with dead week and final exams. Now that things have slowed down for some of the student population, it's good to know the Cody Williams campaign is removing the remaining spray-chalk.

(It's never too early to start campaigning for next year, by showing your willingness to clean up the campus.)

A lot of his campaign involved revitalization of Hillsborough… enough so that other candidates started talking about it too. Maybe for next year there will be more student interest in the area & looking into the discount stuff that a few of the candidates talked about. It’s supposed to rain a lot more tonight, maybe that’ll finally wash it away. The chalk might be annoying, but he made a good third party candidate through getting his ideas talked about, and then endorsing the 2nd place candidate (after the first round of elections) who with the new votes won in the runoffs. At the very least the chalk will be long gone before classes start up again in the fall… I’m more annoyed by the missed deadline to open the free expression tunnel which ended up being closed until after classes. Do people really dislike this guy more than Quick?

According to this thread it seems like the business side of things might be picking up a little too.

To be brutally honest, no one cares. The campaign is over. Issues don't matter anymore. We know you supported Cody, but that doesn't change how annoying this "chalking" was / is.

i dont think they ever saw it in person because ive used spray chalk and if they ever had they would be able to tell right away it was paint heh.

So you all know I have already cleaned up about half of the spray chalk on campus and will be getting the rest that I can find this week. It was spray chalk, but obviously the label lied because it said it would come off in 15-30 days on its own. If you think you are upset about seeing it, just imagine me having to go pressure wash each one of them off cause the company lied on the label. Already had to dish out $50 to rent a pressure washer once and now I will be doing it again. Let me know if you want to help since you all seem to want it off so bad.
