I can only think of 2 Mickey D's all American's that Herb actually landed:
Scooter and Hodge
Who are the others that actually went to State?
Haith landed those guys, didn't he? He is a young black that that probably had a lot to do with them going to Texas. Plus, didn't he have something to do with PJ Tucker going to Texas? I'm pretty sure I heard that. 4/12/2006 10:05:06 PM |

Maybe I'm misinformed, but I wouldn't think there are too many left that we have a REALISTIC shot a getting.

I love the effort being put out to try to make ourselves feel good about Haith. What a joke. 2 days ago people thought we had Cal, now your saying the name Haith? That should make you sick to your stomach.
We are going to end up with someone worse then Herb, and have to put up with 4-5 bad years as that person adjusts to the ACC and deals with the fact that there will be no Simmons or Brackman to atleast pull us along.
I'd rather just have Herb. Atleast we knew what to expect. 20 wins, a losing streak about 15 games in, 3-5th in the acc, and a 6-9 seed. Was good enough for me. Sure we COULD have gotten a really good coach, but now it just looks bad. None of the names being thrown around right now make me excited at all. 4/13/2006 12:39:59 AM |

How is what our team has done over the past 5 years mediocrity?
I'm sick of this BS that to be a true fan you have to want a national championship and being happy with anything less makes you "not a fan." Just because you are dillusional, and don't have realistic expectations for what our school can accomplish, doesn't make you more of a fan then I am. We are a ways from being a contender, and what hope we had is being lost every day that goes by that we don't get a coach.
I atleast can take some pride in what our school DOES accomplish, and not sit around complaining about how we didn't win the national championship again. Alot of kids around the country would kill to have the type of bball seasons we had the last 5 years. Keep your sights set high, so you can live a life of disapointment but atleast that way you can claim to be a "true fan" 4/13/2006 1:13:55 AM |

It has nothing to do with winning a NC. What it has to do with is that Herb has done the same shit the last 5 years (with last year being the exception because of hodge)....Do really well during the regular season due to a ridiculously easy OOC schedule, get spanked by duke and UNC and then get worked in the NCAA via the first or second round. If you are happy with this then great, complain a bunch about herb leaving and shut the fuck up.
I see nothing wrong with trying to compare ourselves with the likes of duke, UNC and any other program that is considered really successful. People expect progression and maybe herb was about to turn the tables on us but that is not the case now....he left for greener pastures (I was really disappointed that he left). Shut the fuck up about the herb haters running herb off....its getting really old. All you douches do is bitch and complain about the "old" days, and not respecting herb...blah blah blah blah blah...stop fucking whining.
We'll get a solid coach and yes we'll prolly suck next season because of the losses that we have incurred but stop being such a negative nancy....this isnt directed towards you personally, its towards all the people who feel that way.
jesus

Quote : | "Andrew Jones Wolfpackers: There's a coach out there who's a perfect fit
Hey, Wolfpack fans, there’s a coach out there in a major conference who considers running N.C. State’s basketball program a “dream” gig. For reasons known only to the Wolfpack brass in charge of the search, he hasn’t been contacted yet. His name can’t be mentioned here, but decide for yourself if he’d be a good choice. What if I told you this man greatly respects the program’s terrific tradition and would aspire to live up to the expectations he believes should routinely accompany an N.C. State basketball season? What if I told you he would consider it an honor to sit in the same seat that Everett Case, Norm Sloan and Jim Valvano once did? What if I told you this person knows N.C. State fans, understands how you view the college basketball world around you and would strive to give you the success he believes Wolfpack Nation deserves? What if I told you this person possesses the outward energy your previous coach didn’t? What if I told you this man can recruit like the dickens and would find bringing talented hoopsters to Raleigh easier than at his current post? What if I told you he would employ an up-tempo approach and has already proven an ability to teach teams to rebound AS TEAMS? What if I told you he would change defenses when necessary? What if I told you he would call a timeout and get all over his team if its effort is lacking? What if I told you he has several end-of-game plays, some of which have worked at the major college level? What if I told you he has visions of using talented big men, understanding you run the offense through them? What if I told you he’s already earned a few national honors at the highest level? What if I told you he doesn’t view North Carolina and Duke being up the road as a detriment, but a positive? What if I told you he believes N.C. State can compete with UNC and Duke on a regular basis? What if I told you he recognizes how hard a coaching staff must work to get the program to where it annually competes with the Tar Heels and Blue Devils, and is willing to do whatever it takes within the rules to accomplish that? What if I told you he has worked for winners at almost every coaching stop? What if I told you he has a wonderful personality, is engaging and truly a gentleman? What if I told you he would run a clean program and genuinely cared about his players? What if I told you he’d be great with the media and wonderful in his dealings with the public, notably the fans? What if I told you he’d unite the fan base shortly after his hiring, something most of you know is badly needed? What if I told you he’d be quite happy settling in North Carolina for the rest of his life? What if I told you he’d leave a very good job to come to N.C. State in a millisecond? What if I told you this man would embrace Wolfpack red as if it was meant to be? What if I told you he’s just a phone call away? " |

Haith isn't an upgrade in the least IMO. He had good teams and didn't do shit with them. Every year for Miami is supposed to be the year 'they got to the next level.' Well we're still waiting for that next level.
Oh, and everyone who uses McDonald's AA's to gauge recruiting success is being naive. The vast majority of national champions and Final 4 teams don't have teams made up of them. The only two that do year in and year out are Duke and UNC...
** I meant for it to read that every year Miami.. not that he has coached there. They had some good talent before he even got there. Going back to 2 years before they joined the ACC..

I think it's funny how you guys are talking shit. If you remember, when the ACC expansion was happening, everyone and their mother was talking about how Miami was gonna get the shit kicked out of em in basketball. Now, they're actually pretty damn good in a very good conference and it has nothing to do with their coach? please.
the guy is a good recruiter and good coach. Give him more than two fucking years and I bet he has miami playing some real ball with the big boys. this would be a good pick-up for state. 4/13/2006 8:53:00 AM |

Think about it tho...Miami is a Football school and the bball program will never match the Football program or get the attention or fair share of spotlight...Haith might be wanting to get out of that situation to a place where he can recruit for Bball and not be over shadowed by the Football Program
