Under the FairTax Bill, you only pay fed sales tax when you purchase goods and services for personal use. So you can start a business and operate it without all the federal tax considerations you have to face today. No income is taxed any longer.

Just read a shpiel about it on Wikipedia. I'm surprised an arch-liberal would support something like FairTax now that I read it just cause of the regression involved. I can see some good things to it and some bad things as well.

What regression is that? Under FairTax, poor people are completely removed from all federal taxes including the most regressive one of all -social security.

Assuming that the poor spend a larger percentage of thier income on necessities, the FairTax will help them quite a bit.

They may still end up spending that same percentage of their income...but now they are not paying anymore payroll tax. They get their whole paycheck.
