the ONLY album that has its best song as track #1 that ive found...(i have agreed with NOTHING in this thread so far)...the fragile [left side], nin, "somewhat damaged". i think thats the best song on that disc.
oh wait..."you" on radiohead's 'pablo honey' is my favorite...but that'll probably be up for debate. 4/16/2006 5:22:27 AM |

this tread is pointless. 75% of well made records lead off with the stongest song. 4/16/2006 10:43:48 AM |

it's true because you did the rolly eyes!
but seriously, i think a lot of times immediately likeable songs are put first. often though, the real meaty tracks are somewhere in the middle. i honestly think that last tracks stand a better chance at being best as standalone songs. this is mostly because they usually have a sense of conclusion by the end. 4/16/2006 11:50:36 AM |

I've found there to be an abnormal amount of albums where the third song is the hit song or single. Of course "best" song is a matter of opinion... but a lot of times people might consider that the "best" song. 4/17/2006 2:17:53 PM |

This could be a lot of things, if you define "the best" as "your favorite" then there could be tons of variation.
A few examples:
Audioslave - Cochise G&R - Use your Illusion 2 - Civil War Beatles - Abbey Road - Come Together 4/19/2006 2:09:53 AM |

Good call on "Born Under Punches".
Stooges - Raw Power - "Search and Destroy" ...I go back and forth on this one, so many good tracks. Michael Jackson - Off the Wall - "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" 4/19/2006 2:23:07 AM |
