I'd prefer not to get hit by a hurricane. It might be exhilirating, but the next couple days with no house/power/ac/running water fucking suck.

Smath is a geologist and is very intelligent. I'm sure he understands mother nature just as much or more than any of you do. I am good friends with people that work at NOAA/AOML and the Hurricane Center. I don't hear them praying for catastrophes. Although they do most certainly appreciate the power of these storms and are fascinated by them (its their career)- wishing destruction is another thing.

hurricanes are kinda neat after you get used to them, I have been through quite a few myself.

It isn't Smath's knowledge of geology that I have a problem with. It's his lack of ability to accept that there are people who do want to experience these storms without calling them names and trying to paint them as some kind of moral inferior.

I hadn't noticed considering I have never sounded anywhere near that hillbilly nor would I have n00bed all over myself by calling it a "level 5" hurricane. wtf is that? So in all you did manage to accomplish one of your objectives by trying to sound ignorant. gg.

that "corner" in the florida coast is the worst place for storm surge. this could be a pretty nice size surge.

sorry, i live on the outer banks, grew up staying for all tropical systems, enjoy driving around during the storms, and even though it may cost me a day or two of work I like it when storms come up and visit.

Yeah, this "storm" was a tease. It isn't even going to make it breezy for my near Wilmington this weekend so I can kiteboard.

But the season is young and the less we have now the more heating we get built up.

Hopefully a Katrina sized storm will hit NC. That would be awesome (provided I wasn't in the area of course).
