Magic Hat #9 Sam Adams Chocolate Bock (very expensive, but tastes like you're drinking a chocolate bar) any of the Lindemans lambics. They tend to be sweeter than other breweries. 5/10/2006 1:14:24 PM |

If you want a good German hefe-weizen, you need to try Weihenstephaner or Paulaner. I've seen Paulaner at Lowe's Foods and Harristeeter, and Weihenstephaner is available at Total Wine. Both are excellent. 5/10/2006 4:57:02 PM |

down in florida we went to one of those "over 300 kinds of beers from all over the world"
and i worked my way across the netherlands, the czech republic, and central america all in one night
there was one good beer from each of the regions i hit, but of course i can't really remember which ones...

I can't remember specifically...but it took me a while to get use to the taste of beer.
It was probably a few months of drinking lite beer (miller, bud, busch) before I acquired a taste for it. From there I could go on to other beers. I think my first beer after the lite beers was Yuengling, then Harp, then Sam Adams, etc. The more you drink the more acceptable other beers become. I can drink just about any kind of beer now. Every now and then I'll try something new and be like..."bleh"....but it's not possible to like everything.
I would honestly just recommend to keep drinking beer...you will eventually get over it. 5/10/2006 6:55:11 PM |

i think the problem is that when kids start drinking beer, they start with the cheap "get the job done" shit... icehouse, busch, milwaukee, what have you. and honestly, even your average bud, miller, coors type beers are shit.
if people just started out drinking decent beer, they prolly wouldn't develop such an aversion.
i would also like to add that learning to like beer is totally worth it, there are some very yummy brews out there

I am of the opinion that "decent" or "good" beer is just too strong of a flavor for people to start with.
Cheep, lite beer has so little flavor that I think it's a good beer to start with (although really cheap beer can be nasty). I think Miller Lite is an easy beer to drink and maybe start off with...but that's just me.5/10/2006 7:10:14 PM |

on the comment made about hefeweizens, do you seriously like pyramid hefeweizen? i think that shit sucks ass. I think Shiner makes the best hefe, at least out of the ones i've tried. I've tried a couple others too, and i think they're better than Pyramid, but i still say Shiner beats all. 5/11/2006 5:51:32 AM |

^^ paulaner makes a good hefe.. i also like weihenstephan and schneider weiss is good too..

Magic Hat #9...seems to be a new favorite of TWWers and for good reason.
They had it on draft at Back 9 on cary pkwy near high house in the peoples replublic of cary/morrisville/holly springs/new hill/chatham county/whatever has been annexed this week.
If I can get my non-beer drinking friends to drink this, it opens up a lot more options for places to go that don't serve liquor. 5/11/2006 5:04:37 PM |

I used to absolutely hate beer and really couldn't drink it at all.
Then we got a kegerator in the apartment and I proceeded to get drunk off my ass while we were calibrating it and testing it out (in the name of science, of course), and I've had no problems with beer at all ever since.
So my advice to you is just to bite the bullet and suffer through enough beers to get you wasted, because afterwards it won't even phase you anymore. 5/15/2006 4:30:19 AM |
