This guy only averaged 14 points a game in HS. You've gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet, and Davis is a very small egg.
Some of you that still suckle at herb's teet need to let it go. HE'S GONE. GET OVER IT. 5/25/2006 9:44:52 PM |

^ spoken like a typical State fan
Damn, if we get Calipari we'll be in the national spotlight. What?!?!? He's not coming? Fuck him! I never liked him in the first place!!!!1
Larry Davis, Jr. is the best recruit we have coming in. Finally we'll have an athletic ball handler who can pile up the assists AND shoot from the perimeter. WHAT!?!?!?! He's going to Seton Hall??? Fuck him! I never wanted him to wear red and white anyways!!!!!!!11

WAAAH! I LIKED BEING DUKE AND CAROLINA'S BITCH! I'M GOING TO CRY LIKE A LITTLE SKANK AND COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING BECAUSE I CAN'T GET OVER THE FACT THAT THE SHITTY COACH I ADORED IS NO LONGER HERE! 5/25/2006 9:48:06 PM |

^^Exactly.
There's no reason to ignore the fact that we were going to be weak on guards anyway, and now we've lost one who had some good potential.
Not liking Herb doesn't mean that losing all his recruits is suddenly great.

i mean
the fans didnt force sendek to take another job
the fans didnt force sendek to neglect to mention that he may not be the coach when these kids come here
we didnt recruit other players b/c these kids signed their loi's. why should they get to play immediately at a school, especially one we play next year, while we get fucked? 5/25/2006 9:48:44 PM |

^^^ and you, my friend, are a typical Prick Pride whore
i'd rather be the Herb whore any day of the damn week
^ however, had we gotten a coach who could begin immediately, maybe it could be us getting guys from other schools and/or recruiting for next year. hindsight

The players signed with the understanding that they'd be playing for a particular coach, in a particular system. Now both of those have changed.
The best thing for the school to do, from a PR standpoint, is let these kids go gracefully. 5/25/2006 9:52:00 PM |

this is true, but it isnt like we didnt try
we did nothing to attempt to fuck these kids so i dont see why we should allow them to fuck us
i would support letting them play for anyone who isnt on our schedule next year 5/25/2006 9:52:44 PM |

there is some shadiness with the seton hall deal
don't blame this on herb leaving
Seton hall just got a new coach as well.
Still, there might have been illegal contact with Davis on the part of SHU. 5/26/2006 2:06:04 AM |

Nobody's blaming it on Herb leaving (although he probably wouldn't have left if Herb hadn't).
I think most people are blaming it on Larry Davis not giving us a shot. And yeah...Seton Hall might have been shady...they contacted Davis and Werner before they were allowed to...but I don't think that means they'll necessarily get in trouble for it. It all depends on if we try to get them in trouble (which right now we need to focuse on other things). Hell, Davis would have probably gone to Indiana had they not recently got in trouble.
Point is that Davis just didn't want to go to State anymore and he didn't want to wait for Coach Lowe to try and woo him either. You can be upset about it, but you can't get mad at him. He's been in limbo for over a month on who we were going to hire...then when we finally hired somebody he still can't really talk to the guy for another month or two. 5/26/2006 7:23:19 AM |

Wasn't the condition of the release that he had to wait to meed with SidLowe?
We won't be deep, but the cupboard isn't bare at guard this year. Atsur, Grant, Fells, Ferguson. We can even spell minutes with a walk-on. Next year we need a big class though.
I'm more worried about inside, with Ced and Brackman up in the air, leaving Costner and McCauley plus Horner if we save him.
Our team really can't afford any key injuries this year, though. This is what most programs go through when they lose a coach. 5/26/2006 7:25:16 AM |
jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
Atsur is pretty much our only PG for next year...that is not good. Larry Davis was suppose to be our serviceable backup. We'll see what Ferguson can do at the point....and we might be able to get a few PG minutes out of Fells and Grant...but we will not want to get to that point.
And...

NO. Only the top programs in the country have Wes Miller's sitting on the bench who got decent scholarships to Division 1 schools and are good enough to actually play in the ACC.
Our forward spots will be our strongest next year. Ced won't be here, so our inside game will be pretty non-existent unless McCauley improves a whole lot (don't get me wrong...I think he's good, but not good enough to fix our woes).
Next year is looking bleek.5/26/2006 8:05:52 AM |

That could end up being something that we stick with. I don't know yet. That's going to be a decision of powers above me. I think Larry Davis is leaning toward Seton Hall. I know the New York papers are already reporting it, but that's not done yet."
"That's a key component from our administrative point of view. A conditional release, yes, but we're expecting you to at least meet your new head coach. We felt like that was fair in terms of what we were giving them and what we were asking of them." " |

Holy shit....Larry Davis' coach rips Lowe a new one:

Quote : | "Contacted by telephone Monday, Oliva was not so kind or politically correct. Asked why Davis decided not to stick with N.C. State, Oliva said, “I don’t really know … I can only guess. You want me to guess?
“Well, they (N.C. State) took two months to name a coach, and then, when they did, they named a guy who can’t coach.
“That is about the stupidest thing I ever heard of.”
With that, Oliva hung up and returned to his Memorial Day activities." |

Certainly poor records in such historically rich basketball markets as Minnesota and Vancouver mean there's absolutely no hope for success at the college level. I realize this has been said, but it's not like he ran these programs into the ground. 5/30/2006 5:41:58 PM |

Well, if Davis feels the same way his coach does about Lowe at this point in time, then he's a dumbass anyway. Nobody has the right to make that judgement at this point in time. Its one thing to speculate that he might not succede, but its totally ignorant to assume that he cant coach when he hasnt had one game to prove himself on the college level. 5/30/2006 7:36:30 PM |

I think he meant he couldn't coach literally, like he won't start until July. He still has to graduate and pass the NCAA test first. 5/30/2006 8:53:21 PM |

^if he meant that...then what the fuck does it matter to Davis??????? He wont be in school until august anyway. If he cant talk to Lowe, he can get any information he wanted from the coaching staff. 5/30/2006 9:52:22 PM |
