you killed your argument right there.... just dumb. Even when they are down, if you put LSU, Auburn, and Bama in any division they are going to do some major damage.

and you cannot honestly believe that the Pac-10 is better than the SEC, thats a fucking joke

ha, if you think i'm anyway shape or form an SEC fan, you're either dumb as fuck, new to sports talk, or trolling to kill time (like i normally do)

i didn't say the PAC-10 was better, i was asked to provide a point where the ACC was rated as an equal with the SEC, i provided it...

and in a given year Alabama, Auburn, or Arkansas can all be good teams, but in the last few years or so they haven't hit on it at the same time... it's always 2 good teams in the West and 4 crappy to mediocre ones (i exclude LSU, becuase they've been good the whole time, nothing but respect there)...

maybe that changes this year, last year certainly seemed like the West was going in the right direction, but to argue that it's been consistently strong for the last few years is to put on horse blinders...

Alabama
2000
3-8
2001
7-5
2002
10-3
2003
4-9
2004
6-6
2005
10-2

are you arguing that during 2000, 2003, and 2004 Alabama could waltz into any other conference and dominate?

technically i asked when they WERE equals

not when they were RATED as equals

i mean, i was really just stirring up shit
but i bet there are plenty of ranking systems
and i'm sure there are ones that will have the SEC over the ACC

^^^^^Except that over the last 5 years or so, Auburn is just about the best team going besides USC.

Hence "just about the best" and as far as LSU, Auburn has been better over the past 5 years.

eventually i'll remember to stop this... but every time i see a "SEC IS THE GREATEST EVER!" post it makes me cringe...

eventually people will stop living in the past, but hey, we're all supposed to be State fans, so i guess that's a bit much to expect of us...

those are just purely going by records. It doesnt take into account that the SEC basically beats up on itself every year. If you go by actual football knowledge and you know what you are talking about, there is no doubt that the SEC is the top football conference.

As much as I hate to say it, the only reason that those "ratings" are even close to accurate is UT dropped the ball and completely sucked ass last season. And that hasn't happened since 1988.

We will see how the conferences do this season.

let's see...
the biggest Tenn fan on the board, another Tenn fan, and a Bama fan are saying that in order to know anything about football you must believe taht the SEC is the best conference hands down...

i'd say there are lots of doubts about it, all it takes is actually looking at the conferences to start doubting it... and maybe a few less biases

^^ nooo, I totally admit that the ACC is the tops in bball. No bias there. Just looking at what teams produce the best product, and thats SEC football, hands down. Once again, you cant just look at record. If you put Tennessee in the Pac-10, they would have a much better record, if you put Florida in the Big-12, especially the north, they would have a much better record. Now, I do admit that the last few years it hasnt been AS good as it has in the recent past, its still the best football conference.

it wasnt the best football conference last year

so its not "still the best football conference"

you gotta earn that shit every year

you think every now and then the Big 10 doesnt emerge as the best conference FOR ONE SEASON?

GO ACC

I am saying overall, if someone asks, which conference is the best at football, it would be the SEC. Sure you can break it down as far as you want to go but thats just silly...

"at 1:25 PM there were three TDs scored against SEC schools by 3 Conf. USA schools, at this exact moment Conf. USA is better" blah blah blah

no and though i dont like the sec, i mostly hate them, i do think they are usually one of the top couple conferences in the land, and i dont have any problem with people saying they are the best

but i think you're only fooling yourself if you dont think there are some seasons here or there when the Big 12 or Big 10 or Pac 10 or even ACC are better...say when Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas were all really good...or when Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Iowa are all really good...or USC, UCLA, Cal, Oregon, etc...or Miami, FSU, Clemson, VT, etc

I never said that there werent. In those conferences, especially the Big 12 you usually have one really great team (Nebraska, then it was Ok, now Texas), who just steam rolls through their conference, but the rest of the teams are good, but not great. Whereas in the SEC its sooo fucking hard to go undefeated in the conference and the conference champ. game, so you cant just look at the record.

Current Nebraska, UCLA, Oregon and Clemson would get killed in a full season in the SEC... the rest could hang though

The good thing about wearing tennessee colors is that you can watch the game on the weekend and during the week you can pick up trash on the side of the road!

UT forever! Go Vandy!

HAHAHAH, ok, 2005-2006 you are right... but typically, 95% of the time UT would fucking destroy WVU.

And I actually like WVU, was a big Major Harris fan growing up...

WVU / UT
All-Time Wins: 642/752
All-Time Winning Percentage: .591/.697
Years with 10 or more victories: 5/19
Bowl Game Appearances: 25/45
National Championships: 0/4
Drafted Players: 150/310
Conference Championships: 12/16

weaknesses look to be LB - lost a top guy due to some disciple issues

strengths look to be RB, CB, and hopefully QB (depending on what cutcliff can do with Ainge)
