the cold war is irrelevant to israel/middle east. the soviet union was a real military threat.

if you're saying that we should be more consistent and impartial in our dealings with the jews/palestinians/middle east in general and that our foriegn policy in the region to date has been nothing short of hypocritical -- then i agree with you.

but to suggest that if we would "switch sides" things would somehow be better, is a gross oversimplification and suggests a complete lack of political/religious/economoic/historical context.
