Ok, so, evidently the only arguements against legalization that Padowack has is a strawman about legalizing theft, utterly ignoring the fact that drug use is a victimless crime while theft is not, that a blackmarket might still exist, and that there are other reasons people are in prison.

Good going, you've said jack shit. You admit that unjust laws/systems dump a huge portion of the population into prison, so lets do away with them! Legalize marijuana!

If after doing so people still end up in prison then we'll try something else, if people are still poor then try something else, but at least we will no longer be putting people in prison just to make ourselves feel better.

Please, tell me how a guy next door smoking a joint harms anyone but him?

you dodge points like Michael Vick!!That thing about legalizing theft was similar to your argument. Thats why i mentioned it.

Quote :
"Argument 1: "But taking drugs is an individual's choice...." "

Go back and try clicking on that link! Read the entire thing. Im tired of arguing with you. You're not intelligent enough. I can't believe I wasted this much time with it. Its like talking to a pitt bull. Drugs won't get legalized any time soon, get over it. Sorry you and your buddies can't go "toke up" in public, and you will have to continue to get jimmy to piss in cups for you.

You and this "gangster bling bling culture shit"

I'm an undercover economist, I have weighed the costs and benefits to me and I will never do drugs, regardless of legal status.

You still have yet to explain why others cannot be trusted to make the same decision.

Or why it is better to have someone in prison than at home privately getting high?

As for "Your Link" they do exactly as you do, confuse the whole issue. An example: "Which is more harmful - me walking around with no shirt or me shooting up with crack" as if this is saying something. Obviously, her walking around with no shirt on is far worse because then she is affecting others. A more apt comparison would be asking which is harmful - me walking around with no shirt on in my own living room or me shooting up with crack in my own living room? In neither situation is anyone being harmed but me.

She has a strong argument in favor of making it illegal to consume drugs in public, but clearly nothing to disuade the "But taking drugs is an individual's choice" defense.

"Is that person going to have a flashback while sitting at home - or while driving?"
Not eating enough vitamin C can damage my eyesight, putting pedestrians at risk. This why we have laws against negligent homicide. If you use LSD and fry your brain then get into a car you are being negligent and if you cause an accident will be liable. Or should we also outlaw cold medication because it too can cause car accidents?

That said, she may have a point about LSD, that still leaves lots of other drugs that don't produce "flashbacks" or whatever it is.

"what are we going to do about all the drugs that are available by prescription only?"
OMG, great argument! We've made other drugs illegal, what are we going to do if we start making some drugs legal!?!? What will happen to the FDA? Surely we cannot let cancer patients try uncertified drugs! There might be chaos if patients and doctors didn't have to go to Mexico for cancer treatments!

You're lucky I enjoy typing, otherwise you'd just go on through life thinking such bullshit constituted a valid argument

have you took drugs before?

then shut the fuck speaking for those who have with all this economy bull shit. I dont give a fuck if you

were "undercover brother".

my god.

there are people who have taken drugs who have the same viewpoints as me/her and anyone else, who

dont want them legalized. We need to keep people off of drugs!!!!!!!!!!!!dont you agree, this will not be

a step in that direction whatsoever.

MY ARGUMENT IS TO KEEP PEOPLE OFF OF DRUGS. THEY DESTROY HOMES,FAMILIES ETC. I DONT WANT TO MAKE THEM NO MORE AVAILABLE THAN THEY ARE!!!

Well, as expected, you don't have a response to anything I said. Congrats, you are what some people call a "loser." Don't be sad, you shouldn't worry what other people think of you.

What you did post, however, was all an emotional play and ignored the cruz of the matter. I completely agree that people should be kept off drugs. I just also think they should be kept out of prison as long as doing so doesn't harm anyone else.

Regretfully, the current legal regime is not keeping anyone off drugs. Everyone that is the least bit interested in taking drugs already is. But it is keeping everyone in prison, good going.

Now, not only do we have destroyed homes and families due to drug use, but we also have millions of people rotting in prison. Does it really help save families by putting the parent in prison and the children in foster care? Most children just want their parents off drugs, they don't want them in prison. Surely a better way can be found to fight drug use than by destroying homes and families ourselves.
