I could agree with that.
Here is a question:
If you are a GM and there is a fantasy draft and you have the first pick, who do you take?
The answer has to be Lebron James.6/28/2006 10:20:24 PM |

oh, no doubt i'd take lebron first
he's already one of the top players in the league and is the perfect guy to build a team around
however, if i had a marginal team with a few playmakers, i'd take nash
he's the perfect point guard and can take any team to the next level6/29/2006 12:19:57 AM |

I bet half of the people here giving their opinions have no basketball knowledge whatsoever and just say what they hear on espn.
The three names mentioned most are Kobe, Lebron and Wade.
Well offensively, defensively and in the clutch we know Kobe is better, so everyone keep your panties on. 6/29/2006 6:20:19 PM |
BigDave41 All American 1301 Posts user info edit post |
^kobe is clutch no doubt. but so are lebron and wade. wade was unstoppable down the stretch in the finals and lebron had atleast 2, maybe 3, game winning shots in crunch time in the playoffs. i don't think you can say kobe is more clutch than the other two.
however, you are correct that kobe's defense is ahead of the other 2...for now. and offensively i think the three of them are pretty even...kobe shoots the three ball the best, lebron is has the most strength and athletic ability and wade is quickest and can get to the basket the best.

Kobe is a killer and the other two are not killers yet
wade is only in this conversation because of the finals, take him off and replace with kobe or lebron and the finals are a sweep
lebron is a different kind of player than we have ever seen, he is a mix of magic and vince carter
kobe is more clutch than either one of two will ever be, kobe plays better D, Kobe is a better scorer, lets not forget kobe has 3 rings already 6/30/2006 12:55:47 AM |

And you say:
Quote : | "Kobe is a killer and the other two are not killers yet " |
And then you say this:
Quote : | "wade is only in this conversation because of the finals" |
Where he was a killer. So???
And Lebron was every much the killer in this year's playoffs. His supporting cast just wasn't good enough. And Kobe sure was a killer against the Suns in that first round.

Age: Kobe: 28 next month Wade: 24 LeBron: 21
Give the bottom 2 a little more time, and they will far surpass everything Kobe has done individually. Kobe was Wade's age now, playing with Shaq in his prime and got three titles out of it. Keep ion mind Shaq was averaging like 28pts, 16 rebs in those finals, thats why he was always MVP, NOT KOBE. Then look at this year, Shaq averaged far below those numbers, and Wade was the MVP, not Shaq.
Basically, put Wade or LeBron with a Shaq in his prime and they reel off more than 3 rings, and niether run him off because of ego issues.6/30/2006 12:03:45 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148446 Posts user info edit post |
players as good as Wade and Lebron inherently have ego issues...they dont get to be as good as they are without egos
Just because Wade and Shaq didnt clash after one title doesnt mean they wouldnt have problems
we can hypothetically speculate shit all day
but people remember rings
btw i dont like Kobe but you cant argue with his hardware...or the fact that only Wilt Chamberlain has scored more points in a single game 6/30/2006 12:08:55 PM |

^x5, then by that same logic, Robert Horry is twice as good as Kobe (6 rings to 3), and Steve Kerr is 5 times better than D. Wade (5 to 1).
I think people put too much emphasis on the Rings w/o taking a closer look. Since he ran Shaq off, Kobe has done nothing but score an insane amount of points. He hasn't won anything (no MVP's, no scoring titles, NO RINGS). He hasnt made anyone on his team better (Unlike Shaq, who made Walker, Williams, and Posey legitimate threats, and not just gunners). Kobe's just a scorer. Until I see someone play better b/c of playing with Kobe, I will not say that he is the best player in Basketball.

i'm not even saying he's the best player in basketball
and i think we can both agree that the horry and kerr comments are...well we all know kobe is better than both of them
but you cant say Kobe hasnt won shit or done shit without Shaq unless you also admit that Lebron and Wade havent done shit without Shaq either 6/30/2006 12:22:58 PM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
but both of them, especially LeBron, do so much more than score. Kobe doesnt.
LeBron has made every one of his teammates better, and is drawing comparisions to Magic Johnson/Oscar Robertson because of the was he can pass and rebound as well as fill up the scoreboard.
I think Kobe is really needs to add more to his game if he wants to be known as one of the greatest. 6/30/2006 12:25:44 PM |

KOBE BRYANT...by far is the best player in the nba. He actually PLAYS defense, 1st team all nba defense by the way. He is smoother when driving the basket and better at avoiding charges unlike wade and lebron. He makes you crap your pants when your the other team and hes on the floor because your so worried hes gonna steal the ball at halfcourt and take it in for a dunk.
Basically if your more than the average fan, if you actually understand the intricacies of basketball, then you realize that Kobe is by far the best player in the world. He exerts so much energy guarding the other teams best player, he can create a shot from Anywhere, oh yeah he actually shoots over 90% in free throws (unlike wade or lebron), and he can outjump yao ming. ...Yeah...gimme KOBE 6/30/2006 1:43:00 PM |

STFU n00b.
there is no doubt that Kobe is an amazing offensive player, and yes, he is a great defensive player as well. You obviously dont know shit about this argument...talking about jumping over players and shit.
The point of my argument is that Kobe makes no one else on his team better, and if you dont make others better, in order to win you have to be surrounded by talent. This was why Kobe won with Shaq. Kobe could be one-dimensional and Shaq could make everyone better. This is a rare quality that very few players have. Shaq, Nash, and LeBron are the few that come to mind.
I would take Lebron over Wade and Kobe, based on all around talent and potential, the Wade, as he is 4 years younger than Kobe, Then Kobe. This takes nothing away from how clutch and the affensive creativity that is Kobe Bryant, but I can promise you, Kobe will never win unless there is someone on his team that can consistently make things easier on thier teammates. He has the ability to, but its obvious that he doesnt trust his teammates enough to take it to the next level.
LeBron >>>> Wade >>>>Kobe as far as long term value RIGHT NOW 6/30/2006 1:54:31 PM |
