you only have one starting RB. you'd be well-served to make a move for a second one like right now... lest you face the dubious disappointment of deshaun foster actually lasting 10 games or reginald not scoring every time he touches the ball like ESPN thinks he will.

[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 4:33 PM. Reason : overall you're pretty solid, who'd you take first?]

[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 4:34 PM. Reason : nobody's gonna trade for a fucking kicker, get a skill position player right now]

Looking at that it looks like your first pick was Tom Brady, unless you went crazy and took Reggie Bush in the first round.

QB: Your situation looks good. Tom Brady is SOLID, Favre can put up good stats if he doesn't have his team fall apart on him like last year, and Rivers is a toss up, could be a good one, could have growing pains, can't tell just yet.

RB: Rough. I like Ronnie Brown to have a good year, but you don't have another starter on your team. Williams and Bush will split time at least at the beginning of the season, neither will be a starter day one, unless an injury occurs.

WR: Burress has potential, but he has been known to waste that potential and drop balls, but could be a big target for Manning this year. Glenn will likely get some good-looks with TO around so he's likely a nice 2nd or 3rd reciever on a team. Burleson is iffy, he could potentially put up good numbers. And Keyshawn could have a good season, the better Steve Smith does, the better Keyshawn will do.

TE: I really like this pick you've made. Jason Witten is in a good position to have a monster year. TO likely being double-teamed and Glenn getting attention should have Bledsoe finding Witten open very often. Kellen Winslow, has ability if he can get himself on the field, could end up being a nice back-up and maybe eventually trade bait if he can play this season.

K: One of the best kickers for this season right there, Vinatieri. Moving from harsh conditions to ideal conditions, should put up good numbers, especially when the Colts O sputters in the redzone.
Vanderjagt might struggle some this year pulling the opposite of Vinatieri, but he's definitely a starting kicker for most teams. But like mentioned above, NOT going to get any trade looks for him.

Def: Both of your defenses appear to be set for good years. Both had great seasons last season so I expect the same this season.

Recommendations:
I'd look to make a trade or find a free agent RB. Williams has potential to play if Foster gets hurt(most likely) and Bush is playing behind a pro-bowler so he'll get looks but they won't be the looks of a #1 back. Williams will be doing kick returns though so if your league rewards players for KR yards then he might be a good play. I think I'd look around the league for someone with a few good backs and lacking at QB and see if I couldn't pawn off Favre for a decent RB(won't get a premier back but possibly a solid one).

What about trading Favre for Willie Parker (PIT)

I am thinking Ronnie Brown will be just as good as Cadillac this season due to the fact that he will no longer be sharing PT with a Canadian league washout

"What do you guys think about Tatum Bell? I have been reading alot about him and how this is his year to explode. Everyone says the talent is there and many guys are saying he should be a fantasy 1st rounder (in a 12-team basic league). Plus everyone knows Denver's primary back is going to put up numbers so I think it could be a good late 1st round gamble."

since no one answered this..

remember last year? it was the same thing. what were the results like?

he was even on the cover of many fantasy magazines last year.

Denver's RB situation is in its usual clear-as-mud status.

I remember when people thought Terrell Davis wouldn't be an ideal pick one year because Detron Smith (who dat?) was apparently going to take away goal line carries. That never happened, but Mike Anderson saw the ball much more near the goal-line than did Bell last season. Now you have the consummate goal-line guy in Ron Dayne, who could wind up doing the Mike Anderson...

I guess in short, if it's down to Bell and a full-time guy, take the full-timer. If it's Bell and, say, Joe Addai and Deshaun Foster, take Bell.

[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 5:29 PM. Reason : Quentin Griffin was even supposed to be a big contributor]

WoooooooooWe.

Cedric Benson's shoulder looks to be fucked up bad after a gang tackle by Urlacher and Brown yesterday.

He was carted off the field, but in a sling, and did not return. X-rays and MRI's today.

Get/or Draft Thomas Jones as fast as you can. He is also hurt but will be back in 7 days or so.

You heard it here first (at least on T-Dub, but its been all over the news).

not that it means that much for their season at this point (even though it does from a fantasy standpoint), but the Broncos just named Mike Bell (thier former third string RB) the starter ahead of Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne.

Everyone at camp seems to be comparing him to Terrel Davis (but more likely, he will be a faster Mike Anderson)

just an FYI..because remeber what Anderson did last year? He went the fuck off. Anyone can succeed in Shanahan's zone blocking scheme, and with Tatum being too small, Dayne being too big, Mike Bell seems just right!

lol.

I believe you...

I get auto emails about this shit. (I am a fantasy football nerd, I admit)

It was just announced today around 1:15p.m., but I got the email on my lunch break, then had a meeting.

Not many people will hear about shit like this before me.

Its not bragging, but in most of the leagues I play in, everyone is this serious, so if you win the championship, you really feel like you have done something.

Ok, I need advice: how helpful is it to build around a defense? this is my 2nd year playing and last year, myu defense was what tanked it. my first 2 picks this year are the bears and giants d. should i really be that gung-ho about defense or should i bump my rb or qb choice up?

ok in my league you keep 2 players

1st keeper is Shaun Alexander

2nd keeper is between:

Cadillac Williams
Chad Johnson

league is expanding from 12 to 14 teams this year, so RB will be especially thin. keeping cadillac will give me two solid #1 RB's and then i can focus on WR in the early rounds of the draft (or if bush is available i could take him to phase out alexander as a keeper, assuming bush isn't a dud).

so, i'm leaning heavily towards cadillac, although i like how consistant chad has been through the years.

everyone agree with me on keeping cadillac?

(i don't really care about the palmer issue, so i'm not taking that into consideration in this decision. this being a keeper league, i'm looking further ahead than just the upcoming season, and i know both of these players should be stellar for years to come.)

If you're making this decision contingent on getting someone with a yet-to-be-defined role, you might as well keep Cadillac and save yourself the heartache.

i didn't mean keep chad and then take bush as my 2nd RB if that's what you mean.

i was thinking keep caddy and then if bush was available still take him. it'd be worth it if he pans out, i'd have 2 great young RB keepers for a good while.

^^you made some nice moves, but I question the competitiveness off your league.

who in the fuck would trade Housh, Dominick Davis and Samkon Gado for Reggie Bush and Nate Burleson?

am I missing something?

You definitely ended up better, but that trade would have never happened in a league:

a) where everyone has some type of basic football knowledge.
b) where everyone in the league actually care about winning.

be sure to thank who ever the knucklehead was.

Now that that trade is over with, looking at your skill positions, you have Brady, Brown, and everyone else. It may be in your best intrest to wheel and deal for a top notch receiver. Plax is good, but streaky and on a team full of weapons.

Terry Glenn will not benefit from T.O., but Witten will. I also would avoid having WR/TE's starting that are on the same team. Witten is your starter, but I would hold on to Winslow, as he could be great Trade Bait later on, especially if he comes back strong like many are saying. I would look to deal Glenn and possibly Winslow for a top 10 receiver if available. Based on the previous trade, suckers are out there in your league.

From looking at your roster, it looks like you are in a 12-14 man league. If this is the case, you are one trade away from being one of the best teams, easily.

If you are in a 10 man league, you likely had the 5th-7th pick and didnt do enough with your 2nd and 3rd round picks. This is the year to wait on QB's and TE's. Go for RB's and WR's early and often. You must have taken Brady in either Rd 3 or 4? Waaayy too early. I hope this is not the case, but if you are in a 10 man league, you are in trouble and could be in for a long season, especially with Davis as one of your featured backs. His health issues scare me, but he is a safer pick than Bush, who will likely split carries with Duece.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I figure he probably picked up Gado off of waivers, I wouldn't imagine anyone actually drafting him with him moving towards the back of the RB list in GB, so I'm sure the trade was:
Domanick Davis and TJ for Bush and Burleson.

Personally I wouldn't except the deal, but some people really think Bush is going to blow up this year, but I'm not one of them.

But if you managed to get Davis off of waivers then that league really needs more players, haha.

Also, I think you'll be ok with Glenn, but don't be afraid to bench him for TJ(when Palmer is healthy) and Keyshawn(if they really open up the passing game).

OK here are the moves I made:

Waived - K: M. Vandejagt Dallas
Claimed FA - WR: Antonio Bryant SF

Waived - WR: Nate Burleson Sea
Claimed FA - RB: Samkon Gado GB

Trade - A.Bryant & Reggie Bush for Domanick Davis and TJ Houshmandzadeh

Seems like I did well with the trade but Davis has been missing practice with a swollen knee

I am in a 10 team league and I drafted last in first round and first in second round then last in 3rd and first in 4th and so on

This is my first time doing fantasy so I didnt know to wait on qbs

"don't be afraid to start TJ"

Based on last season and this season, Housh will be a much better option than Glenn. Housh is a weekly starter. A very, very solid #2. Big Red Zone Target doesnt hurt either.

Glenn had more yards, but both finished with 7 receiveing TD's, Housh added a rushing TD.

Glenn is going to be marginalized this year by the presence of T.O., it will not make him better.

Start Housh every week, pick spots and matchups for Glenn.

Ok here is a rookie question....how do you work a bye week for a position you are only one deep at like say Kicker or maybe DEF

^its important to rememeber that unless you have expendable players, its not worth getting rid of your "core players" just to fill a spot for a kicker in week 6.

At best, you lose 5 points or so because you played without a kicker...

at worst, you lose one matchup. As long as you stay in playoff position, thats all that matters.

NEVER, EVER DRAFT MORE THAN 1 KICKER...USE THAT SPOT FOR A "SLEEPER PICK" (a pick that is not popular, but based on surroundings, potential, or your ties to the player [NC STATE] could have a breakout year)

ex. J. Cotchery is a great sleeper wide receiver this year, becasuse his new coach loves his talent and McCariens has been demoted.

He's being given a chance to show what he can do, what his capacity will be on the team, etc.

Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne are still 1-1a.

He could be a good pickup, though, and could give the Broncos what the Steelers would have had if Staley were healthy.

who should you dump????

with only 6 people, your league is stacked, and you have too many stars for each roster.

You cant start all of those guys.

The issue isnt who to pick up off of waivers, its who to start on your roster.

but just for the hell of it....who else is available?
