^^Now that is funny.
So what will Israel's response be now that an Israeli group has kidnapped a group of palestinians? I can't imagine that they could get away with doing nothing.

karim, dude, you're wrong.
1. as i stated, the oil industry is already responding inlight of today's events. the price of barrels have already risen. israel and lebanon may not be major suppliers of oil, but their allies certainly are - iran, syria, saudi arabia, etc. iran, particulary, has been a staunch supporter of lebanon. analysts are projecting the oil companies' losses to be projected at the pumps. the prices have already jumped almost $2 just today - in less than 24 hours since the attacks began. prices at the pump are expected to hit $3 a gallon, and $4 in some markets, next week.
2. hezbollah is recognized as a terrorist organization by the u.s. and u.n. they're not supported by the lebanese government (atleast not in an official, overt capacity). instead, hezbollah is well-known to be supported by terrorist states, such as iran. as you probably know, hezbollah was formed in the early 80's in response to israel's invasion into lebanon. even if it was formed in a defensive spirit, hezbollah behaves as a terrorist group. they're most famous act was perhaps the u.s. marines barracks bombing in '83.
3. hezbollah initiated this current conflict with israel. firstly, they kidnapped an israeli soldier. then, they launched missile attacks into israel. israel responded this morning with attacks on an airport and two military air fields. subsequently, hezbollah retaliated with more missile attacks further inside israel. most recently, israel attacked the airport again.
the lebanese government has already said they have no part in hezbollah's actions, and specificially said they don't support hezbollah's actions in any facet. hezbollah is accused of simply instigating conflict. israel just wants their soldier back. hezbollah, the kidnappers, are refusing to comply. hezbollah is threatening attacks deeper into israel.
Quote : | "what by bombing a populated international airport
they didnt bomb hezbollah, they bombed lebanon
big difference
israel is so arrogant, they think they can do what they want, it will catch up with them, and I cant wait" |
dude, they didn't level the damn airport or anything. matter of fact, there hasn't been a single report of injuries or deaths from either side.
israel destroyed one runway of the airport, and two fuel tanks. that's a strategic move. they're not attacking the lebanese people. they recognize, as does rest of the world, that hezbollah isn't acting on behalf of the lebanese government. however, hezbollah basically controls southern lebanon, so israel is simply reducing hezbollah's military capacity to some degree.

the missile attack on that israeli port city was in response to israel's attack on the airport and airfields. however, hezbollah previously launched a missile attack just over the border previous to israel's attacks.
i have no idea why the israeli soldier was kidnapped. however, the fact is that they still kidnapped an israeli soldier. everyone knows how israel responds to such acts. israel doesn't fuck around, and they're more eager to pull the trigger than our texan cowboy, g-dub. hezbollah committed a deliberate terrorist act, hoping to incite what we are witnessing right now. 7/13/2006 3:56:03 PM |

i mean, i am not condoning the level of israel's reaction
but the region was in the middle of efforts to compromise and having productive peace talks
then hamas and hezbollah decide to commit terrorist acts against a country known for extreme reactions and not negotiating with terrorists

You do realize the landing strip is essentially the most important part of the airport and you can't really repair it over night. And they destroyed all 3 runways7/13/2006 4:03:20 PM |

my political stance is to fuck israel. they have no business trying to occupy that region. at the same time, england and others had no fucking business sticking their collective noses into that area. they fucked up the middle-east in the very same manner they fucked up yugoslavia and the czech republic. on top of all that, israel behaves like a bunch of fucking idiots.
our allegience with israel is the single, most-prevalent reason why the united states has so many enemies within the arab nations. there is no reason for us to support israel in the capacity that we do. it's fucking stupid as shit. fuck israel.
^ my understanding is that only one runway was damaged. of course, i could be mistaken. i don't condone the severity of israel's response, but it shouldn't be a suprise to anyone. it is what hezbollah wanted. israel has requested lebanon to send military forces to southern lebanon to quelch the hezbollah guerillas, but lebanon doesn't want to play. lebanon needs to get a grip on hezbollah, or their country is going to continue to be attacked by israel.

the thing is, the world is now basically one giant body affected by the individual organs. the shit going on there is going to fuck all of us. our dumbfuck "leaders" are going to get involved if this escalates into an all-out war. when we get involved, so will iran and syria. germany, england, and probably others will support the united states. china will back iran and company.
this is exactly what some forces want. iran, probably enticed hezbollah to start this kidnapping and shit. the proverbial shit will hit the fan all over the world. fucking north korea is over there fucking around. difference with their fucking around before and now is that global situation is much more fragile now. even though they essentially have nothing to gain, the numb sack dictator will happily incite a war in eastern asia. south korea and japan will get in it with north korea, and then so will we.
the u.s. is going get fucked the worst out of anyone in this. we can't support three major theatres of war: europe, the middle-east, and all of asia.7/13/2006 4:35:53 PM |

^^ no, but it pisses me off that we (the u.s.) have become imperialists - the very thing we revolted against. it's not like this was a recent turn of events. the united states turned to imperialism in the 1800's. it didn't take long for us to become hypocrites, did it?
^ my friend and i talked about that just the other day during a road trip. japan would be 10 fold what the u.s. is now if japan occupied this same land.
