Just because a thing has a name doesn't mean it's important. There are many things that don't have names but should.

i'm sure it can be debilitating, and that it might not be as fun as it seems, but...i'd totally like to try out this disorder...i think it'd be crazy cool to have colors associated with sounds

"I'm definitely of the number-form (spatial) variety of synesthesia - the numbers 1 to whatever, the days of the week, the months of the year, etc. are all arranged in three-dimensional, open loops. For example, whenever I want to think of what month is x months away, I have to find the current month on the curve and then follow it down towards the target. Also, different areas have different sizes, widths, densities."

I have this exact same thing, and have had it since a very early age. 1-10 is on a certain line...at 11 it curves up towards 100. Past 100, there's a curve all the way to 1000...past one thousand, it's pretty much just one nebulous curve. It's hard to describe, since this is the model I think of every time I work with numbers.

Edit: Also, I have mental maps for months and years. The strange thing is, years 1-100 are mapped on a totally different pattern than numbers 1-100. With months, it's just a circle/oval, but the months and seasons have specific positions. And days of the week. This is just weird, I always assumed that everyone had mental maps like this.

synesthesia is real, dawg. if you don't have it, you can experience it through psychedelics.

^^is your color/taste association like purple/grape and orange/orange though? and do you actually taste whatever flavor you associate w/ that color, or do you just imagine that a color would have a particular flavor?

Haha, this is still weird to think about. How do "normal" people think about numbers? I'm hesitant to call number form a disorder.

You're claiming to know how other people experience the world, based purely on your own experience. You're the equivalent of a Christian that says no one is actually gay, just deceived by Satan.

If you have or are interested in synesthesia & synesthetes, I'd suggest checking out some of VS Ramachandran's books or lectures on it

the latter. purple tastes like celery. cool. crisp.

orange is bland, like bread.

Numbers are just numbers. When I think of the number 5, I just see a 5 in my head.

omg i have never met anyone else who had this. whenever i tell people they look at me like

i'm like se7entythree i have numbers <--> colors. it goes both ways.

1= no color, 2 = blue, 3 = yellow, 4 = gold/medium brown, 5 = green, 6 = blue, 7 = red, 8 = pink, 9 = no color

i always thought it had something to do with flash cards i had when i was little. i didn't think there was an actual term for all of this mess.
