For #11:
Carpet Price is your Y variable (Dependent) Square Footage is your X Variable (Independent)
Make 2 columns to the right of the problem titled X*Y and X^2
Fill those values in, and across the bottom find the sum of each column and the average of each column.
Take those values and plug them into the formulas for B and A.
Once you have your "Y = Bx + A" formula, plug 280 into x
Y should result in the correct answer. 11/2/2006 10:13:29 PM |

Does anybody think Top-slice Drivers problem on the test last Friday is ambiguous? 3.2 is between 3 and 4, the answer is 3 but I will argue with that (why not 4?). Will anybody agree with me? 11/5/2006 11:15:46 AM |
guitarguy All American 8118 Posts user info edit post |
no, throughout the test you had to round, either up or down...didnt the question say "about how many" or something? plus, in the slides, the answer was 4 months when the capacity was 2300...he changed the capacity to 2250 so its not 4 months... 11/5/2006 11:58:14 AM |

Still though, Favre's a dam awesome professor in my opinion. This stuff is a lot harder I heard with the other professor(s) who teach it. Favre is one of the few reasons why this semester is actually bearable for me. 11/8/2006 9:16:05 AM |

1-10 I say this class is about a 3-4. You do as well in his class as well as you want to, aka, it's pretty much completely dependent on your work ethic. If you make an effort to go to class, study, do the homework, it's pretty easy to get an A. The workload is light, though the homework may take a while for some, but overall, i'd say it's right under being a breeze class, specially for a 300 level.
haha guitar, you in class now too? This inventory management stuff is boring and I'm havin trouble payin attention.

NRt=Maximum (0;GRt - EIt-1 - SRt) EIt = EIt-1 + SRt + PRt - GRt
NR1 = (0; 200 - 280 - 0) = 0 EI1 = 280 + 0 - 200 = 80 PR1 = 0 PO1 = 120 (needed in week 3)

I'm thinking #3 should be B, not C. The # of car loans would be directly *dependant* on the number of cars sold. 12/14/2006 8:07:20 PM |

Cs=.75-.2=.55 Ce=.2-.02=.18
Cs/Cs+Ce .55/.55+.18=.75
look up .75 on Z chart and find a Z score of .67
Quantity= avg+ Z * stand dev = 200+.67*50= 233.5 or 234 12/14/2006 8:16:19 PM |

guitarguy, The formulas for 16 and 17 are the ones on the formula sheet from [14-4] and [14-5]
For [14-5], E I is the same as Proj. On-hand Inv. in the chart.
The way the questions are, we have to fill out the chart through week 47 because of the 2 week lead time. Week 47 tells us what to order in week 45 to answer question 17. 12/14/2006 9:21:59 PM |
