I mean, the normally well thought out responses and arguments of Gamecat are non existant in this thread, taking a back seat to sarcasm and changing the subject

The Gamecat I know, regardless of what we agree or disagree on, is doing himself a disservice by treating this so lightly

the point is: yes the people who took advantage of that situation are evil. and we should stop them. BUT we learned from that not to horribly punish the people from the losing side. it's not all about the current enemy. it's about the future.

I thought the genocide was more a product of economic frustration than occult beliefs. I mean, I guess a lot of it is speculation, but I always heard that Hitler, who did harbor sick beliefs, played into the anger many felt at the financial institutions that they wrongly attributed to their woes, which were largely run by Jews.

Hitler scapegoated jews as the reason for losing WWI. This played into his strong nationalistic strategy that used the history of ancient germany to instill pride in the citizenry. The next step was to remove the parts of the populace (jews, gypsies, etc) that were corrupting the bloodlines and causing problems for Germany.

^^^ That's credited with motivating the population of Germany to either support or be complicit in the effort. The anti-semitism is what "supplied the votes" so to speak.

The effort to create an Aryan race--which I assumed TreeTwista10 was talking about by "genocide on anybody that wasn't like them"--was based hugely on the principles and beliefs of the membership of the mystical societies in Germany at the time. The Aryans were thought to be the original Germans (as opposed to the common ancestor of all original humans), and the social engineering project the Nazis undertook sought to restore the Earth's population--which it saw as polluted by lesser blood and interbreeding--to Aryan hegemony.

Freaky shit, for sure. But its undercurrent was recognized by outsiders as early as 1940.
