Agreed. I think it's dumb to spend all their time growing up encouraging my kids to go to college only to say "oh hey" you're on your own once they get there.

There are ways to teach people to be fiscally responsible and about being an adult without saddling them with debt. In fact, that's probably the dumbest way to do it imaginable.

Opportunity cost is the real cost of everything, and most people don't understand that at all.



baby's mama and I are putting away $100/month (to start with...prob increase that somewhere down the road) for our daughter's college...over 18+ years, that will grow to a pretty decent sum (prob somewhere in the 50k range in today's dollars).
