oh well, nobody is arguing that he runs alot. And like I have said before, who cares how you get the yards, as long as you get them. Thats why he is so good, they don't know if he is gonna pass or run. See Simms, the guy rushed for 3 yrds, so you know if he doesnt hand it off, he is passing. Vick is special because of this, he always keeps the other team guessing and off balance. Simms passed for 313 yds today, and didnt even have a TD, so stop acting like passing yards are the shit 9/17/2006 4:34:40 PM |

Vick with another dominating performance.
If that kicker doesnt miss 4 FG"s and the WR doesn't fumble in the red zone they woulda won by 30...
This guy is fucking amazing. He just singlehandedly destroyed Tampa's defense.
Not to mention he woulda had another 40-50 yards passing if it hadn't been for that pass interference on the surefire deep TD pass... 9/17/2006 5:55:56 PM |

This pretty much sums up why Vick is so good and doesn't need to rely on "stats" to appear good.
Quote : | "Said Tampa Bay defensive end Simeon Rice, who has helped contain Vick in the past, but who was held to one tackle and no sacks Sunday: "It was the impromptu part of it. It was a 'make it up as you go' thing. They didn't require him to stay in the pocket. They allowed him to make plays with his feet. He got up the field. He held onto the ball. The bootleg worked well. Listen, they were on-point today. They did their thing. They put pressure on us in every facet." " |

okay i get it.
you are blaming Vick for the dropped passes and the receivers who fall down on every play.
but not crediting him with the 50 yard bomb, the would be TD pass to Crumpler, the sick ass play near the goaline...
I understand.
Its Vicks fault the Falcons have had two kicks blocked and cant defend the pass. 9/25/2006 10:20:40 PM |

This shit happens every game to every quarterback. Maybe there were a couple more drops tonight than most nights but the bottom line is.....
12/31 for 137 yards....39% completion is horrible.
Vick will NEVER be a great QB for that reason. He'll just be a great athlete and an average to above average QB.9/26/2006 12:25:33 AM |

i think vick is ok but has some pretty bad support at times (from all positions except RB)
dangerous on every play, but not reliable
though its gotta be tough trying to catch a football coming at you at 100mph while running/jumping/twisting/whatever
professional football player or not
sometimes you just need to take a little off a throw 9/26/2006 1:39:46 AM |

not a whole lot of touch on his passes
His o-line was terrible today, but it was very good during the first 2 weeks when they set rushing records.
Same with the Atlanta D, which could do no wrong the first 2 weeks.
Looks kinda like a repeat of last year

I'm not saying that Vick had a good game, because he didn't.
But his receivers couldnt stay on their feet on that turf. He couldn't make his normal sharp cuts either so that really limited his ability to run. If you don't think there were some extenuating circumstances with how well the Saints played b/c of all the emotion involved then you're crazy.
The Saints had a sweet gameplan for him. I don't know how they managed to do it, but they had linebackers spying on every play and they stilll played great coverage downfield. If the receivers can't beat man coverage EVER then thats just terrible on their part.
When Algae Crumpler drops 2 TD passes at the beginning of the game and the Saints are getting punt blocks for TD's and blocking 25 yard FG's there isnt a lot he can do.
Warrick Dunn also played like shit last night he could never find his footing on that crappy turf.
Vick threw about 5-6 catchable deep balls and those guys absolutely could not make those catches.
Carson Palmer is clearly the 2nd best QB in the league, but look at the catches Chris Henry and Housh made for him last week. You can be the best QB in the world, but if guys cant make plays around you then it will only get you so far.
Just so we're clear, Tom Brady was horrible on Sunday night. I don't see the thread that says he'll never be a good QB. While we're at it, Peyton didnt even complete 50% of his passes last week... last I checked he's a pretty good QB. Since you mention it, Eli Manning played like shit last week but we all know he's a good QB. Drew Brees almost singlehandedly lost to the GB Packers last week by having three (shoulda been four) turnovers in the first quarter.
Vick still managed not to turn the ball over. He had an off game, but if you think he's the reason they lost last night you're in complete denial of what happened out there.
And you're gonna give him three drops? Well I guess you didn't see the game because there were three drops in the first quarter alone along with 2 slips. I'm not talking about guys who lost their footing and didnt make their breaks sharp enough, I'm talking about guys crashing and burning on the turf. Reggie bush coudlnt even stay on his feet on that garbage. That turf is going to prematurely end his career if it doesnt shape up soon.

Here's the thing. Watching the Falcons play last night is exactly what it was like watching the Packers play last year. The offensive line was getting mauled, the running game was non-existent, and the receivers were dropping passes. Favre doesn't have the physical tools that Vick has though, so instead of being able to rush for 7 every so often, he instead forces a pass into coverage. All things considered though, I was impressed by Vick not turning the ball over last night.
p.s. DON'T CRUSH MY FAVRE FOR PRO BOWL DREAMS

if you put Favre on a team that had some options he'd definitely win more games but i think he's too stubborn to make the "Elway adjustment"
I think he'd go down in flames like Marino did.

The fucking turf - that's your excuse? Yeah, really stopped Vick a lot - after all he only averaged 9.5 yds per rush. And I guess the Saints played on different turf and that's how they got 145 yds rushing.

Please...he either underthrows or overthrows. I remember watching the QB challenge (I think last year) where they had to throw through a tire. Peyton and Drew Brees made him look silly. He was like 3-10. The Falcons are paying Schaub starters money for a reason. They are planning to move Vick to wideout...not sure if you knew that. It's breaking news. They got smart. 9/26/2006 3:15:54 PM |

i just bttted the thread because, like years past, Vick was a golden god for the first few games of a season, then DCs must get enough tape of whatever new wrinkle ATL put into the offense, and they figured out how to pin him down..
the story last season was that TB stopped him by committing safeties to rush the perimeter and keep him in the pocket. CAR always put a linebacker or two as a spy, and they would just get mashed by a trap or a pulling guard, but then we switched up to doing what TB did, and pwnt Vick the second time we played them.
Whatever NO did to shutdown the Michael Vick Experience last night, you can believe every other team will do as well. That's all I'm saying - he's a stunt.
And all that really has to be done is to find a way to force him to pass. 9/26/2006 4:29:35 PM |

basically what it comes down to is if Vick is effective running the ball, the Falcons have a great chance at winning.
If Vick can't run, they're doomed, everytime, because his passing is attrocious and no one can argue otherwise. 9/26/2006 6:30:35 PM |

you guys honestly know nothing about the NFL.
Do you think each QB plays 16 good games a season?
He wasn't good last night but he definitely wasn't the reason they lost.
His receivers, oline, and RB's all sucked. The Atlanta offensive coordinator didnt do anything to take advantage of the way the Saints committed their LB's to stop Vick from running. Vick didn't play well but he wasn't all that bad either.
The Atlanta defense was miserable last night.
The Atlanta special teams was beyond miserable.

^^You've been brainwashed.
Vick is a dynamic runner, quick as lightning...but his passing is and always will be his downfall.
His completion percentage has always been bad, and he hasn't shown that he'll improve that. QB's are meant to complete passes in order to score. He can't run down the field every other play. It won't work.
I'll give you that Vick is an original, one of a kind QB, but that's not neccesarily a good thing. 9/26/2006 7:13:53 PM |
