if west virginia goes undefeated and their are two schools which better s.o.s., but with a loss, west virginia still shouldn't play for the national title.
notre dame, ga tech, florida, meeechigan, usc... could all have a loss and still should undoubtedly play for the title over west va. their schedules are ridiculously tough in the first place, but if you compare them to west virginia's... hahahahaha! 9/14/2006 10:00:18 PM |

i still don't understand why WVU took seats out of their stadium. that has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever. i mean build a new atheltic center but don't take out seats in a place where football is big, and you sell out nearly every game.
actually that's not even an atheltic center, that's just a bunch of suites and restaurant shit. it could have easily been built up above those older stands.

i predict that if WVU goes on to win the NC or go to the National Title game they will soon tear down their crappy current press box and build something similar to Vaughn Towers/the one at VaTech/or Michign State.

This should be applied to the ACC then. If you haven't noticed, the Big East has kicked the ACC's ass every time so far this short season save one game. Not to mention the conference's best out-of-conference win so far is at Central Michigan.
@ Wake Forest 20, Syracuse 10 @ Pittsburgh 38, Virginia 13 Rutgers 21, @ North Carolina 16
West Virginia is leading Maryland 45-17 at home.
-Wake Forest plays at Connecticut this weekend, and based on the Duke game this past weekend, Wake's gonna lose with their backup QB. -Louisville hosts Miami this coming weekend. -North Carolina hosts South Florida later in the year.
I can see the Big East going 6-1 for the season versus the ACC.

it doesn't matter if the big least has a winning record vs. the acc this season.
1. those middle of the big least teams beat 3 of the 4 bottom feeders of the acc. 2. by that logic, the acc is clearly the best conference because we have a winning record vs. every other conference (including the sec) the past 2-3 years. furthermore, the acc is the only conference with a winning bowl record over the past 3-4 years, the acc has sent the most teams to bowls the past couple of years, and i think the acc has the winningest bowl record overall. 3. i know the big east went 1-3 in bowls last year. i'm going to guess and say they have a losing record over the past 2-3 years too. 4. only 3 teams in the big least had a winning record last season. THREE. and it's not because of tough out of conference schedules, with the exception of louisville. 5. to keep it's automatic bcs bid eligibility, a conference's champion has to average a top-12 over four years. when the big least was about to lose it's bcs bid in 2004, they were allowed to count incoming louisville's top-10 finish even though louisville wasn't in the big east yet. the big east champion that year was pittsburgh, and they were 20-something in the polls. basically, the bcs were being fucking pussies and too nice.

As far as point 5, the worst ranked conference by the way is the ACC. The ACC champion was Florida State last year and they were 20-something. Nothing says quality like an 8-5 champion.
Conference strength is based entirely on who you beat out-of-conference. So far this year:
Home:
Florida State defeated Troy 24-17 Wake Forest defeated Syracuse 20-10 Maryland defeated Middle Tennessee State 24-10 North Carolina State lost to Akron 20-17 Clemson defeated Florida Atlantic 54-6 Georgia Tech lost to Notre Dame 14-10 Virginia defeated Wyoming 13-12 North Carolina lost to Rutgers 21-16
I-AA (at Home):
Maryland defeated William & Mary 27-14 North Carolina State defeated Appalachian State 23-10 Virginia Tech defeated Northeastern 38-0 Georgia Tech defeated Samford 38-6 Miami defeated Florida A&M 51-10 Duke lost to Richmond 13-0
Away:
Boston College defeated Central Michigan 31-24 Maryland lost to West Virginia 45-24 Virginia lost to Pittsburgh 38-13
Against I-A opposition, the ACC is 6-5. Three of those I-A wins are against the Sun Belt Conference. Against BCS opposition, the ACC is 1-4. (lone win is Wake over a very bad Syracuse)
It's still early in the season, but is there anything on this list that makes you think the ACC could even match any other BCS conference in record against good teams? Heck, FSU almost lost to Troy. Do a comparative analysis midway through the season and if you can back yourself up with facts other than "2 years ago they were s*** and that's why we're better", feel free.

1a. the acc is the worst ranked conference? by what/who's rankings? 1b. i'll repeat since you missed it, the final ranking stipulation for conference champions is contended on the average of four seasons; not just last year's. 2a. the stats referring to the past 2-4 seasons that i noted are in directly regards to the acc, not the big least. 2b. i didn't single out one season 2 years ago. i provided a trend based on factual results. the fact of the matter is that the big least has underperformed consistently for the past several years, even more so once miami and va tech seceded. 3. conference strength isn't based entirely on who is beaten ooc. that's a ridiculous assertion imo. 4. you say that sorrycuse is "very bad". i agree, but wake is worse. 5. as you said yourself, we're still early in the season. no valid arguments as to conference strengths and prowess for the 2006 season can be made at this time. the only things to go on are previous seasons, which i addressed.
i gave you facts, and you're only response is conjecture and filling the screen with schedules (twice). that's your argument? the acc sucks because it has a losing record to the big least so far this season? that doesn't even address the original argument - the big least should lose it's automatic bcs bid. atleast keep me entertained by retorting each of my points.
konami, "big least" isn't something new that i just made up. before you post another sarcastic remark, i didn't come up with "sorrycuse" either.

HA HA.....ALL YOU FAGGOT ACC HOMERS NEED TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THE ACC IS A SHITTY FOOTBALL CONF., THE TWO BEST TEAMS IN THE BIG EAST (WVU AND LOUSIVILLE) ARE RANKED HIGHER THAN THAN FSU AND MIAMI AND YOU'LL SEE WHEN LOUSVILLE OFFS MIAMI THAT THEY ARE RANKED THERE FOR A REASON.....THE MIDDLE OF THE PAC BIG EAST TEAMS (IE PITT, RUTGERS, AND UCONN) WOULD SURELY BEAT UNC,MARYLAND AND NC STATE....BC WAS CONSIDERED A REALLY GOOD PROGRAM UNTIL THEY LEFT THE BIG EAST AND STARTED WINNING...
