1877- Federal troops leave the South

White, conservative terrorists rape and murder their way back into power. These terrorists kill black people simply for being black and being bold enough to think that they are people, too. For the first billionth time, the American Right's war against black people truly hits home.

Chamberlain was a conservative. It was the liberals that got England and France involved in the war.

Everyone knows of it, not many people really know it.

Nothing explains America better. If you don't get a little choked up when you read the Gettysburg Address, you need to get a better understanding of the American Revolution.

Am I just missing something here?? You have got to be kidding me....lets try the Civil War and the Gettysburg address.

Yes, well what is the Gettysburg Address really about?

The battle, or the ideals the soldiers in the battle were fghting for?

Here's a question for everyone who posted an event.

Why? Justify why that point in history merits that much attention.

I think the only real event that everyone should be well aware of is the first nuclear bomb attack, in Japan.

Why?

It's difficult to explain when people rarely make coherent distinctions of anything. Let alone consistent ones when separating historical events from current events.

I gave my why.

It's essential to knowing the country you're living in.

Plus, name a country, person, region, whatever... that would be even remotely similar to what it is now had the American Revolution not happened.

September 2, 31BC The Battle of Actium

This is where the forces of Octavian squared off against Marc Antony and Cleopatra. The significance here is that it decided the fate of the Roman Republic --> Roman Empire. Octavian, having won the battle, persuded Antony and Cleopatra. Both famously commited suicide. This paved the way for Octavian to become the first Emperor of Rome, Augustus Caesar. The importance of the Roman empire to the future world is abundantly obvious. Two ironies here are that Augustus became emperor just 13 years after Julius Caesar was murdered for his "ambition". The other is that such a pivital battle was fought at sea. Rome was overwhelmingly better known for land war and strategy.

Randy, this is stupid for several reasons, most of which don't even need listing. But just for your sake...how could you possibly think that 1945 was the first time Communists murdered Christians? Did you think that Stalin gave them all a big hug, or did you think that every last person in the Soviet Union was a Commie atheist?
