Okay, but USC and Auburn are not going to play each other this year. And so what else based on what was done on the field can be used other than one fan's opinion that the SEC is better than the Pac-10 cause that person says so? Show me why 11-1 in the SEC is better than USC at 11-1. I listed my argument.

its not "one fan's" opinion... anyone that knows jack shit about college football will tell you that the SEC is harder than the fucking Pac-10. There is no debate. If you dont agree with that you are either:
1. dumb as hell or 2. just trying to be difficult 10/15/2006 5:33:33 PM |

games are played on the field, not on paper
enough with the fucking if-then statements

Whatever. USC at 11-1 is better than Auburn at 11-1, my opinion. And it's not gonna matter anyway cause Auburn will lose again.
I'd love to see conference vs. conference showdowns in football. Never happen though. You gotta get in those must have games with Jackson State and Louisiana-Lafayette.10/15/2006 5:44:20 PM |

using your logic...
Auburn beat Washington State by 26 USC beat Washington State by 6
Auburn MUST be better 10/15/2006 5:47:40 PM |

Louisville can go undefeated and they won't play for the NC. If Auburn can run through the SEC undefeated and not play for it, Lousville isn't going to.10/15/2006 6:05:03 PM |

This is a false statement. This actually carries alot of weight in college football. This is a sound claim when it comes to college sports. I could see if this were the nfl where parity is unpredictable.10/15/2006 6:17:18 PM |

aha, id love it if clemson still had a shot, but that would require a lot of shit to happen.
I think this all proves that a 4, 6, or 8 team playoff is needed. The idea that OSU/Mich, USC, WV/Louis/Rutgers, and Boise State could go undefeated and two of them not play for a national championship is just ludicrous. 10/15/2006 6:26:42 PM |

ok, so NC State beat BC, BC beat Clemson, so therefore NC State is better than Clemson. Football isn't transitive. 10/15/2006 7:20:45 PM |

BCS Computer Rankings Rank School W-L BCS 1 Ohio State 9-0 0.986 2 Michigan 9-0 0.973 3 West Virginia 7-0 0.786 4 Florida 7-1 0.785 5 Auburn 8-1 0.758 6 Texas 8-1 0.755 7 Louisville 7-0 0.751
There is the Top 7 projected. Includes all with a CHANCE at the Nat'l Champ game still.
A few observations.
- Florida has reached it's peak in terms of computer rankings. Their schedule will only get easier, including playing the 205th ranked, 1-AA Western Carolina, which will make their SOS/computer ranking take a huge hit. - The loser of WVU/UL will be out of the picture. The winner will likely get a huge boost and be over .800 thanks the computer bump. - There is still a SMALL chance that the loser of tOSU/UM stays in the nat'l champ game. That is contingent on UL beating WVU Thursday and Auburn losing one more game..
V yeah, but that won't matter much of there is still two undef teams ahead of them. Their SOS is gonna take a HUGE hit with FSU, Western Carolina, and Vandy still on their schedule. Auburn is the only 1 loss team with a legitimate chance at hopping WVU if they run the table based on the pay site I got it from (no I didn't pay but I know someone who did).

This is all based on projections, remember. If one upset happens b/t Ohio St, Michigan, WVU, Florida, or Auburn all this shit gets thrown out the window...
Remaining schedules for the Top 7:
Ohio State: Illinois, NW, Michigan (13-14 combined record) Michigan: Ball St, Indiana, Ohio State (17-10) WVU: UL, Cincy, Pitt, USF, Rutgers (30-9) UF: Vandy, USC, 1-AA WCU, FSU, SEC Champ (13-12 vs 1-A opp + 1-AA game) Auburn: Ark St, UGa, Bama, SEC Champ -- w/ an Ark loss (17-9) Texas: Ok State, KSU, A&M, Big 12 Champ (18-8) UL: WVU, Rutgers, USF, Pitt, UConn (28-9)

A lot of that will depend on what kind of game is played. If one team gets blown out (which I don't see happening) then the humans will drop them farther. If it's close they'd probably only drop down to 3 or 4 and would stay ahead of most 1 loss teams and even possibly an undefeated Big East team..
Frankly, I'd rather not see a rematch. I just don't like that and I hated it when FSU/UF played too. That's not to say that it wouldn't be deserved though.. 10/29/2006 1:00:18 PM |
