There are currently 23 receivers in the HOF. Its a pretty easy argument to make that Holt is a top 25 all time NFL receiver. 1/8/2019 9:51:48 AM |

There is a very easy argument to make that he was the best wr of the 2000's decade. 1/8/2019 10:39:36 AM |

Holt had the most catches, yards and first downs of any WR in the 00's. He had 6 1,300yd seasons in the decade, Moss, TO and Marvin Harrison all had 4. Only WR with 2 1,600 yard seasons that decade. Obviously Holt didn't have the gaudy TD numbers that some of the other WRs of his era had, but he bested them in all other areas. 1/8/2019 11:52:53 AM |

Randy Moss is the 2nd best WR of all time, stats be damned
and I love Torry
[Edited on January 8, 2019 at 12:01 PM. Reason : he also had two of his best seasons before 2000, so there’s your counter argument ] 1/8/2019 11:56:18 AM |

Nope, unless you think Calvin Johnson is #1. 1/8/2019 12:00:31 PM |

Holt was great, and i generally think he is underrated. his consistency was amazing. but man, you can't seriously argue Holt > Moss. 1/8/2019 12:23:07 PM |

I just stated facts about the 00's. Based on those, Holt is clearly in the discussion for best WR of that time.
And if we're going full career, Holt has the highest YPG in history of receivers who played at least 10 seasons.

That's not a counter argument for best WR of the 2000's, genius. LET'S INCLUDE JERRY RICE CUZ HE PLAYED IN THE 2000'S TOO
I'm not here saying OMG TORRY HOLT IS THE GREATEST WR OF ALL TIME, I'm saying he compares very favorably to his peers like Moss, TO and Harrison (who are all rightfully in the hall of fame). Holt belongs in the HOF right beside them.1/8/2019 12:38:18 PM |

I was making your argument for you by saying two of the best Moss seasons happened before your original timeframe, genius 1/8/2019 12:56:13 PM |

idk man. imo there's a big difference in "he compares favorably to his peers over this time frame" and "he might be the best WR of the 2000s decade".

nice to cap it at 10 so we don't have to include calvin johnson.
i think we all agree that he's a HOFer. i just think he's a peg below Moss, for example. in other words, i don't think you can genuinely argue that he's the best WR of the 2000s decade. but he did have a great career, is underrated by most, and definitely deserves a spot in the HOF.1/8/2019 1:02:05 PM |

I think you can argue that, while at the same time saying Moss had a better (longer) career. Moss made his career as a TD machine (Moss is 6'4+, Holt is 6' on a good day, he was never going to be a major red zone target.) Holt consistently gained more yards than anyone else. Both are super impressive, but Holt's consistency is also undervalued. Moss fell off a cliff for a few years and was then redeemed by playing with the greatest QB/coach duo in NFL history.
Yes, I capped it at that because the leaders are all guys currently playing right now, some of whom have played the same length as Megatron. But using 10 year minimum really compares him to pretty much every other Hall of Fame receiver.
Also, I think Calvin Johnson is the best WR of all time. If we're ignoring career stats, that's the dude I pick first to play WR for me every single time. Yes, over Jerry Rice. Dude dominated games no matter who or how many people covered him. Everyone knew the Lions were throwing to him and no one could stop him.] 1/8/2019 1:50:57 PM |
