well to me it sounds like Hannity's viewpoint is for the Democrats not to vote because they are uninformed and will lose

on the other hand, i dont care much about either party, or voting for either party...Hannity is clearly partisan in specifically telling Democrats not to vote...I personally am not going to vote for either side

but if you want to say we have the same opinion just based on the "vote doesn't matter anyway" blurb which I'm sure caught your eye, then feel free to

A few simple things that would help social security is to:

1.) Require people to pay social security on all their earned income, not just the first $86,000

2.) Base the size of payments on people's income/assets and what they actually paid into the system. I don't think it's unfair to ask milliionaires to do without their $200 check. This might be possible with an incentive based system (tax credits, etc), rather than simply taking away.

3.) Create a job subsidy/tax credit program for people receiving social security that allows the private sector to foot some of the bill for supporting the elderly who are capable of working. This would encourage the private sector to create jobs suitable for the elderly, reduce the gov't's expenses, and increase the elderly's income.

Sure they do, you said you won't vote for anyone. Doesn't seem like you understand how the democratic process works.

You have gained nothing for yourself if you don't vote.

i understand the democratic process

so you're wrong

if i was going to vote for candidate A...or if I liked candidate A...and i didnt vote at all...and Candidate A still won...how would I gain anything different if I had voted?

btw we dont live in a true democracy, its a representative republic...fyi

Republican fear mongering. This is what they do. They try to redefine the democrats ideals. Do you really beleive democrats priorities are raising taxes, marrying gays, and installing activist judges?

What makes you think they would do any of that? If we have a democratic president and a narrow republican majority in congress, how exactly would the democrats do all of this?

We have had that and this country enjoyed 8 of it's best years. It requires a consensus instead of one party forcing it's bullshit on the country.

i agree, and you have said this before:
Quote :
"if you voted in NC for gore or kerry your opinion doesnt matter either because NC was a red state"

and this:
Quote :
"so you think its better for the country that more people vote, regardless of how obliviously ignorant they are to the issues???"

...so you basically said it doesn't matter if you voted for kerry in north carolina because he was going to lose (just like hannity) and that you don't think its good for ignorant people to vote (just like hannity).

so again, i ask you, how is your opinion different from his? the only difference i see is that he is talking directly to dems, and you are talking to everyone....that doesn't change the philosophy though.

No, I'm saying that it would favor the democrats. Especially now that the republican party is synonymous with christian extremeism which tends to repel the business conservatives who tend to be the highly educated faction of republicans.

that is correct. he just applies his philosophy to a specific group of people, and you don't. that merely changes the scope, not the idea itself.

Well if you consider the last two presidential elections to show our country virtually 50/50, then the democrats would have considerably more power than the republicans have had over the last 6 years. I would define dominate as holding both houses and the presidency and being able to single handidly overide a fillibuster. I don't know that they would dominate by that standard, but it would be close.

Why don't reply to my statement in this thread? You have no understanding of the democratic process. You don't vote. You don't add anything to this section, why are you here?

And I last sent a PM to you nearly 2 hrs ago now, why are you all defensive. Just answer the question, why are you here if you don't understand democracy, or politics?
