and once again, I say switch out New Englands defense for Indy's for 5 straight years and Manning would have won at least one. 10/30/2006 1:02:31 AM |

comparing him to tom brady is a bit unfair...i mean how many qbs are there in the history of the nfl that have 3 or more rings?....brady is in rare company of great qbs 10/30/2006 1:04:07 AM |

I mean, if you actually watch Manning play, its not even debatable. He is the QB and offensive coordinator. The OC just "suggests" run or pass, Manning does the rest. Its amazing to watch them work.
32 for 39 passing in the NFL is fucking retarded, especially against a D that was playing at a crazy level so far this year

Orly?
So I guess that he gets the credit for last year's offensive play calling against Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year as well?
On paper he's got the tools to be the greatest ever.
He's just a choke artist but has Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison to carry him through.

^ that is the dumbest post I have ever seen. Yeah, Manning has to get "carried" by someone, you got it. And anyone can have a down game, thats why I said give him Brady's D for 5 years, he would win one of them at least. NE didnt win last year so that means Brady choked?

...teams which he's layed offensive eggs with in the playoffs. That's my problem with him. It's not like he's losing in shootouts in the playoffs. He puts up crazy stats and wins "big games" in the regular season and then becomes a mediocre QB in the playoffs.
I'm not even a big fan of Tom Brady, I probaly won't even put him in my top-15 all-time QBs...but I'd take him in a milisecond over Peyton if it was a playoff game. Brady plays above himself in the playoffs, Peyton plays a level below.10/30/2006 8:07:38 AM |

Manning is all class. In his postgame interview, he praised the pats for being such a classy organization, despite the fact that Bellichek dissed his handshake after the game and Brady's punkass didn't even show up to congratulate him.
I get sick of people trying to find something wrong with the guy. Happy feet? who the fuck cares. And give me one example of him throwing a specific teammate under the bus, other than Vanderjagt's crazyass. Seriously.

^ I agree, the guy is total class, anyone who hates him is basically one of those annoying fucks that just has to hate the "good guy" just to do it. If anyone in the league (along with LT) had reasons NOT to be humble it would be him, but he is really really humble, always puts the credit on his team and coaches when things go good, and takes the blame when things go bad, even with Vanderjagt he didnt really blame him for the game, just for the stupid comments

if by throwing someone under the bus means saying "we had protection problems" like he did last year, then yes he does throw people under the bus. I consider that a fact of the game, throwing someone else under the bus would be like LT calling out Marty for not knowing how to coach a playoff game 1/22/2007 8:52:40 AM |

no, he was actually calling out himself... he also said that it was his fault for not noticing where the pressure was coming from in time to redirect his blocking. Now, it probably WAS his O-line and RB's fault, but he didnt blame them

also a good point... first time in the history of pro football a team has gone an entire regular season not holding a single team under 100 rushing yards

Manning is a class act, no doubt about it. His teammates love him and defend him against media scrutiny every chance they get. No one works harder, no one runs his offense better, and no one literally is an offensive coordinator with a helmet like this guy.
Manning and Brady are THE two elite quarterbacks in the game today. Period. I'd take either one in a heartbeat to win a big game. I think in the past Peyton put too much pressure on himself and consequently sucked in a few games.... but he's a damn good QB and he's going to the Super Bowl
Oh and fuck Bill "I don't give post-game interviews when I lose" Bellicheck and Tom "I'm too much of a prick to congratulate the opposing QB" Brady...

I think the most important argument so far has been the stats vs rings. The truth is being born of the right breding will help you out a lot with the stats (and if you aren't 6' 4" it's hard to be a pro in about anything). But I believe to win championships (sure you have to get lucky, but) on that stage, the last game of the year (it's not win or go home, it's win or be forgotten) that's when you find out about a man's character, his heart

I didn't say that they played like they did in the regular season. What I said was that Peyton made it to the super bowl with the worst run defense in NFL history.
FACT: Peyton and the Colts have made it to the super bowl.
FACT: The 2006 Colts Defense was the worst defense against the run in NFL history.
They've played phenomenal in the playoffs, I was just making a statement. I don't think they'd be in the playoffs, much less playing in the super bowl without Peyton Manning. this was all just a counterpoint to the comparison to Brady and Brady's past teams. It's all just speculation and fuel for argument anyway. 1/22/2007 11:04:11 PM |

fair enough
i just think its a tad misleading, and by that i mean, if they had played like they did in the regular season (ie the worst run defense evar or whatevar), they would have lost in the 1st round without question 1/22/2007 11:05:23 PM |
