The media loves Herb, his PR skills were great.
Chuck is a joke to the media and embarrasses each individual that has ties to this university every time he speaks.
P.S. just to keep a lead? How about Chuck gets the lead which we haven't had in 3 games now. 11/1/2006 9:41:11 PM |

Look, one more year of mediocrity, and Amato will be run out, just watch. We might make a bowl this year and save face, but sadly, it stands, we blew some games.
Herb was given 10 YEARS to be mediocre. You people gave him 10 YEARS. You have to give chuck at least 8. Come on now, no double standards here.
^WRONG. Me and tons of other fans realized his horrible personality. He never argued calls. He never motivated. He had the personality of a dishrag. He had basketball knowledge and not much else. He was the Dr. Spock of college basketball, logical, but dull. too logical to go for the kill, just wanted to keep afloat.

gavin costner mccauley can all score inside out. they are mr versatilities.
fatigue isnt a matter of how many guys you have
its a matter of conditioning
we will have more guys playing than duke usually does and will this year and they will be and almost always are in the top 10. and you don't think we can finish in the top 70?
all you have to do is beat the bad teams to finish in the top half of the acc. its not hard at all. if we only lose to good teams we will finish 3rd.(i know we likely won't im just saying if)
^and don't give me this injury climate bs. there is no such thing as an injury climate. injuries are 100% random.

lord dude T-5 is at least somewhat within the realm of possibility. 2nd is just ridiculous.
you want my reasons? 1) our big men are mccauley, costner (kind of), horner (small forward) and lewandowski. lewandowski is simply not strong enough yet to compete with acc big men. he's over 7 feet tall yet can't take it to the rim with authority. mccauley works hard and has solid footwork in the paint, but where do we go when he gets tired or in foul trouble? costner was recruited here to play away from the rim in herb's system, and it was evident in the red and white game thats where he wants to be. simon harris could be a power forward option, but he's not very tall and i believe he has to sit this year out anyway.
2) lack of depth. atsur is out right now, leaving us with squat as a true point guard. we've got great slashers in grant and fells, but we need someone to step up and get us into the halfcourt set. hopefully degand's appeal works out, but you can't count him in yet. as i said above, lack of depth in the post.
I think we'll suprise a couple of teams, get upset a couple times, beat most of the teams we're supposed to and finish in the middle of the acc, 5-8 range. possibly a bubble team depending on if we can pull off any upsets and if we can finish with a strong run to end the season and into the acc tourney.

The program is EXACTLY where it was when O'Cain was fired.
MOC was 6-5, 7-5, and 6-6. Chuck's last 3: 5-6, 7-5, 3-5. So we are actually WORSE than when we had O'Cain and are playing an easier schedule. MOC scheduled Syracuse and Texas not ASU and Akron.
When Herb took over we had 5 straight losing seasons and Herb had 9 winning seasons out of 10.

i dunno, i think it gives us a solid amount of warmup before the all important acc season gets rolling full-steam. our big OOC games are michigan (big-10/acc), @cincy (i guess thats kind of big) and @WVU. those are all within 3.5 weeks or so. we play some chicken-shit teams too, but everyone does that. valparaiso was a tourney team not too long ago, but i really don't know if they're worth 2 shits now.
i do like that this year we don't have the random OOC game during the middle of acc play against some tiny directional school. hopefully we'll be able to focus on a strong acc run with this setup.11/1/2006 9:57:10 PM |

WVU is picked 12th in the Big East. Cincy not much better.
I think it's going to be a tough year. My guess is we finish somewhere around 15-17 wins total and between 7-9 in the ACC. A NIT bid would be a major victory in my eyes. I'll probably buy Full Court Press so I can watch all the televised games and I know a bunch of games are on the U, so that's nice.
I'm not going to sit here and say we're going to the Sweet 16 and are going to take the ACC but I don't think we'll be dead last either. It really depends on what Gavin Grant shows up. If it's the one who is under control we can be a pretty decent team; if it's the one that shit the bed everytime he got in the game the first 1.5 years we are in trouble.. 11/1/2006 10:00:29 PM |

Amato can't coach, period. I mean, who else out there has a team that can beat BC yet lose to Akron? I dont even care about the wins and losses. It's the mistakes the team makes during a game that kill me. How many illegal shift penalties, false start penalties, celebration penalties does it take to get them corrected? It's been a constant problem for the past two years! And if you can't even beat the teams in your own state (UNC, Wake), your rivalry games, there's not point in keeping you. He is the problem. 11/1/2006 10:03:01 PM |

^^ yeah i know they're both down now, but they're still name schools (rather than wofford and gardner webb) ya know?
and i agree with the gavin statement. he has some good drives in the R&W game, lets hope he can start doing that consistently and finish his finger roll.
also lets hope he didn't learn how to finish a layup anticipating a foul from the same guy hodge apparently did.
