With 40% in, Webb and Allen are deadlocked. The bad news for Webb is that 75% of Fairfax county and 59% of Richmond City are in (which he did win handily . . .). A good chunk of Arlington is accounted for as well. 820 — Hodes running away with it in NH-02. Not looking pleasant. 819 — Still early, but my Charles Taylor upset isn’t looking so hot right now. 817 — Heavily populated Sarasota county isn’t in, but so far Vern Buchanan seems to be doing what he needs to do to squeek by in FL13. Surprising. 815 — Punch Foley For Negron not faring so well. Not entirely surprising. A low turnout election here. 814 — Not good that Martha Rainville (R-VT) declared loser this early, or that Jim Douglas still not declared. Remember my potential governor upset there . . . 810 — With 81% in, Anne Northup (RKY3) trails by 4000 votes. Wonder where those last precincts are . . . Good news in KY04, as R Davis is running about as well as he did in 2004 . . . Weaver still up in KY-02 with 12% in — no idea how D or R the counties that have reported are. 807 — Sodrel (RIN09) is running well behind his ‘04 totals, probably heading for round 47% of the vote. I’m guessing Dems get all 3 in Indiana. They’ll almost certainly take the House. 804 — Hostettler (RIN04) continues to improve, now up to 38%. Still, it looks like he’s headed for about 45% of the vote, as opposed to 55% last time. 758 — 50% in, Chocola is getting clubbed in populous St. Joseph county. This race is not shaping up to be close. 35% of the vote. He got 50 when he narrowly won in 2004. Think 1958. 751 — Foley/Negron get dealt a blow (hah!). Mahoney running well in St. Lucie county, a Foley stronghold 746 — Geoff Davis (RKY4) is running a bit behind his ‘04 numbers, but he’s facing a more formidable opponent. Still doing well where he needs to do well. 744 — Hostettler (RIN8) is making up some ground, but I doubt if it will be enough. 740 — Polls just closed in NC and OH. Calls for Strickland (OH-Gov-D) and Byrd (WV-D). Lewis trailing in KY-02. This looks like a long night for Rs. 736 — Neck & neck in KY-03. 67% in, Northup (R) down by a point. 732 — Still early on, but Buchanan is actually outperforming Katherine Harris’s ‘04 numbers in FL-16. 730 — Still looks grim in IN-02 and 08. 09 looking better, Sodrel down about 5%, which means he loses unless he improves. Good initial numbers for Negron in FL-16. BTW, I am at work, still working. It is all I can do to keep this liveblog up. Sorry, but I’m ignoring comments for now. 720 — CNN already projecting that VA’s anti-domestic partnership law passes. Good news for Allen that it passes this strongly? We’ll see. 719 — Anne Northup closes to within two, with 37% counted. 716 — Hostettler is getting creamed. Unless these are very unfriendly precincts, he’s toast. Like 70-30 toast. 707 — Wow. With 90% in, Hostettler is getting killed in Democratic Vigo county, a fairly substantial county. Turnout is still down, but in ‘04 he got 44%, he’s getting 28% now. Then again, he won heavily in ‘04, so he can lose some, but not this much . . . 703 — Chocola running about 10 points behind 2004’s Cass county totals (heavily Republican). He’ll need to rack up a bunch of votes in these rural counties to offset St. Joseph Co. 700 — Polls closing in FL, GA, NH, VA, VT 659 — We can project Richard Lugar (R) the winner of the IN Senate race over the hapless Libertarian. 654 — On a more somber note, with 12% in, Brad Ellsworth is up on Hostettler roughly 70-30. No idea where those numbers are from yet. 653 — Very early results in KY-04 — a few counties w/ 6% of precincts or so, but Davis’s (R) percentages are about where they were in ‘06. VERY early."

Well, the only Dem Senator that was somewhat in danger won.....open seat in Maryland(formerly held by Dem) might ruin the Dems night.

New Jersey - incumbent Democrat Menendez wins over Republican Kean
Ohio - Democrat Brown wins over incumbent Republican DeWine
Pennsylvania - Democrat Casey wins over incumbent Republican Santorum

so right now the Democrats are +2

well, looks like the only way Dems will get Senate seats is to have pro life canidates.....so, they will vote for a pro life Justice. So will there really be much of a change in the Senate? You can say the two Dems that just won are more Republicans in Dems clothing

MSNBC called Joe Lieberman (Indy) to defeat Ned Lamont (Dem) for Senate in Connecticut.

What a difference a few months make.

Here's a take from a person that thinks Allen might've just survived Webb for Senate in Virginia.

Looks like Virginia will have an automatic recount for Senate.

MSNBC has called Heath Shuler to defeat Charles Taylor in NC-11.

As far as third parties,

Bernard Sanders (Independent) and Joe Lieberman (Connecticut for Lieberman) elected to Senate.

The Green candidate in Illinois for governor is getting 10.4%. This vote is almost entirely a protest vote. This is important cause Illinois has very high ballot access requirements that act as an impediment, and by having passed the 5% mandatory threshold they're on the ballot statewide for president in 2008 and other races in 2008.

In Maine for the governor race, an Independent is getting 21% right now and a Green candidate is 10%. It looks like the Republican avoided the shame of taking third.

In Massachusetts, Independent Christy Mihos got 7% for governor.

In Texas, Independent (and Scott McClellan's mom) Carole Strayhorn is getting 18%. Kinky is getting 11%. For awhile the Democrat looked like getting 4th here, but was able to take a comfortable second.

I wish we could all just stop worrying about the credit for things and just be like "gg America"

But I'll be the first to admit I'm not good at all in not stopping to try to sort out the credit. The problem comes in the "well if I don't tell them they're wrong, they won't know" kinda thing.

Maybe I'll try not to engage in this kind of thing, but I doubt I'll make it. Specifically on the budget.
