It would be pretty easy. You can't vote more than once using your name. All you would have to do is know all your neighbors names, they would have one sticker for each of their names, and you could vote using their name. Of course the people staffing the polling stations would have to be pretty dense but you could circumvent that by doing this at different polling places with different names or by busing some homeless people in.

You could prevent things like that from happening with a photo ID requirement but why bother? No one is going to go through that kind of trouble to add a few extra votes and you would get caught unless you were lucky enough to only pick the names of people that weren't planning on showing up.

and we all know that more cost associated with voting will not help turnout.

They didn't want my ID. I gave them my name, they asked me to state my address, and they handed me my ballot.

^I don't think they should even put an address on a drivers license. They should be able to pull that info easily enough from your DL number and a database, but that's a different thread.

When I voted about a year ago I was flagged to show ID. It's weird because I had voted previously with that address.

Perhaps you're right, that generally people don't change thier voter registration address when they move, but if you don't then your name is not on the list and you won't be allowed to vote at that precinct. I guess you could always go back to your old precinct.

All that I'm saying is that college students move a lot. It isn't hard nor does it cost much to change your voter registration address. It does cost something to update your driver's license.

I've been in college since 2002 and I have had 5 different addresses. My driver's license still has my home address on it. I'm not going to pay to have that changed until it expires and needing a current one to vote would just mean that I do not vote and I have a feeling that a lot of other college students would feel the same. Just the mobility of college students is arguably a major factor in why turn out is so low for us, requiring an updated ID to vote would not help that.

It is no surprise that the Republicans pushed this through Arizona. College kids tend to be somewhat left of center and requiring an ID is essentially a poll tax that disenfranchises a segment of the Democratic voting population.

As for it amounting to a tax, I understand that---therefore your first license should be FREE...you don't need a valid driver's license, just one that is a photo id

how about issuing state id's for free and drivers license still cost money
for most people nothing will change, but if anyone cant pay the "tax" for the drivers license they can just get a state id
