Don't forget that these people aren't just running two miles, touching a base, and then running two more miles. They're also choking down 12 donuts.

Wow, awesome video! Would you mind if we show that from our website? If so, I'll look into how to get that done.

This also reminds me -- I'm trying to track down three camcorders for blanket video coverage of the event this year. I want one at the belltower, one on the course, and one at krispy kreme, and afterward we're going to put together a video of the whole thing.

I'll be signing up with a friend as casual runners. We're just going to split a dozen between us. Do we tell you guys this on the PayPal form?

Alee,

Your idea is completely fine. On the PayPal page, there is a textbox where you write your T-shirt size. Go ahead and put a note there that you are a part of a team (with the team name) and that you'll be splitting a box of doughnuts. Have each of your friends indicate that team as well.

Since casual runners in general are not going to be going for the full 12 doughnuts (and we won't be closely watching), we are planning on having several boxes available to those casual runners who would like them. We'll set aside a whole box with your team name on it.

Thanks for your interest and hope to see you out there.

Just a followup to my post above....if you are a casual runner, we encourage partaking in a few donuts. However...the fewer donuts the casual runners consume the more money can go to the Children's Hospital. Your registration fee is helping to pay for these donuts, so we can't blame you for wanting a whole box for your own to take home or to work, but still. We're just kindly asking to use moderation. Thanks!

We're going to Sadlack's afterward, so add 5 to the puke count.

Sign-up for the Krispy Kreme Challenge!!!

It's the most fun you can have with a dozen doughnuts.

How long is registration open for? Me and one of my roommates are going to do it, but we're waiting to hear from a friend of ours if he wants to do a team.

DPK,

Registration will be open until about a week before the race, so approximately January 20th. We are encouraging people to register as early as possible because it lets us know in advance how many t-shirts to get, how many doughnuts to have ready at the store, and other logistical issues like that. Thanks for the question.

We are at 83 registrants! We also have secured two sponsors with more hopefully along the way.

Help us reach our goal of 100 registrants before Christmas! You can register at http://www.krispykremechallenge.com.

Quick recap for some commonly asked questions:

Q: Do I really have to eat a dozen doughnuts?
A: Only if you want to! We have a category for people who just want to run the course, enjoy a doughnut or two, watch the mayhem at the store, and get a t-shirt.

Q: What if I don't want to run at all?
A: Sure. We have an 'observer' category which means you'll get a t-shirt and you can come cheer your friends on. Remember, this is a non-profit venture -- its going to the NC Children's Hospital.

Q: Can I just get one of those cool t-shirts?
A: Absolutely. Sign up as an 'observer' and let us know that you can't make it to Belltower on Jan. 27 but want a t-shirt. We will try to have a table out in the Brickyard the following week so you can come by and pick up your t-shirt there.

For other questions, shoot us an email at krispykremechallenge@gmail.com. Hope to see you out there!

Wilso,

Good question, it has come up a lot. It's like this. In order to get the t-shirts and the doughnuts, as well as to make sure we have enough volunteers on race day (so the powers at be don't shut it down on race day), the earlier people sign up the better. We are placing the t-shirt order a week before the race. If we have to order an additional batch of t-shirts after the race, it will be more expensive due to no bulk discount, so the registration fee will increase a bit for race-day registrants.

We had a lot of people show up on race day last year and the turnout was great. This year, if 100 people show up on race day it is going to strain the logistics. I would hate for the doughnuts to run out!

We totally understand that not everyone knows what they'll be doing more than a month from now. We are going to expect a lot of registrants Jan 10 to Jan 20, as people get back on campus and know what their schedule is going to be like. But still, the earlier people register the better everything will be.

I'm considering doing this now, but since I'm trying to lose some weight gained from being unable to run, I might just do half a dozen or so.

A dozen doughnuts is not going to hurt you. 2400 calories less than a day's worth for an active person. Just don't eat a whole lot the rest of the day, and drink plenty of water. You'll burn it right off.

Quick update -- a sneak peek at the t-shirt is at our website http://www.krispykremechallenge.com

We have 148 registrants so far. ROTC members, fraternities and sororities, come on out and register as a team! We are arranging a prize for the largest team that participates.

Help us break our goal of 300+ participants!

Crede,

Remember, you don't have to eat the full dozen donuts. If you want to participate, you can sign up as a Casual Runner. You can run the course, get a t-shirt, eat one or two donuts, and have a great time.

Hope you re-consider

What kind of media coverage do you all anticipate at the event? I would imagine that the local news would be happy to take a break from the murders and car crashes for a light-hearted human interest story.
